I'll just come out and say it...

This remaster is garbage and Rockstar should be ashamed.

That seems to be the general consensus.

It seems rockstar didn’t even make this, something they didn’t even want known.

Has anyone played it on PC? Ports are usually pretty shitty to pc, but I'd love to play it if it is playable.

The best way to play these games prior to the remaster was the PC ports. The PC ports are all pretty janky and have issues on modern hardware. This resolves all of those issues for the most part.

Music licensing is a bummer, but it's not always the fault of the publisher. Sometimes the artists just want too much money for their tracks.

I mean, I wouldn't say it's garbage at all. It's practically the exact same game with an impressive visual facelieft. Quality of life improvements do seem a little bare, but it's still an improvement over the original.

Was it as far as they could have taken it? Nope, but again, this is way more of an effort than I would have expected given the publisher

I've enjoyed the first few missions so far on San Andreas through Game Pass. If it isn't what people were hoping for, that's even better because that means it's likely all three will end up on Game Pass before long and I will definitely play these "facelifts" for free. I never was going to go out and purchase this though because I still have the original games if I want to play them.

Took me a minute to remember the old control scheme but I'm enjoying "tagging" everything. The locations look much better, but the characters don't seem to have gone through much improvement. You'd think they could have improved the facial textures more.

Those are big msuic cuts

I'm not sure I believe the "music cuts" listings. The article linked in this thread lists "Love Fist - "Fist Fury" (Allan Walker)" as a cut track. I find it hard to believe a track specifically created to represent a fictional band from the series isn't in the game.

The tracks they are saying were cut from San Andreas aren't tracks that matter to me at all. Maybe I'll care more if Vice City ever makes its way to Game Pass.

My only major complaints are the long load times on San Andreas and movement on foot seems pretty awkward.

I think that they could have been better remasters but they also could have been worse.

That said, Rockstar no longer seems like a trustworthy company. They lied about single player for GTA V and GTA VI seems like it will never be released.

It's hard to believe that they released three of these game for PS2 and the other 2 came out for PS3. It seems like Rockstar's new philosophy is to just wait on new consoles to come out and sell remasters of their old games.

Why release new games when you can just release remasters every time that a new console comes out? This being the third console for GTA V is a joke.

As I’ve posted before, I have zero issue with remasters. In fact, I very much support them. The alternative is that we lose great games forever as the hardware needed to play them (either consoles or older PC hardware) becomes less and less available.

But the remasters need to be done well. The Mass Effect series is a great example. They didn’t burn a ton of time or effort on them, but those games are now 100% playable on modern hardware on modern displays and will be for the next several decades, at least. That’s awesome, and I hope we see more of that.

But this? This seems terrible. But, I don’t know why I’m surprised by Rockstar at this point.

And the worst part is they removed the originals from all digital stores.

Good thing I bought III when this was first announced. Now I got all 3 OG games. Still wondering about the remasters. It sucks there’s not a “PS5” version. Not that it would be any better though.

Yeah, at some point Steam ran a sale and I got III, Vice City, San Andreas, and IV for pennies on the dollar. Feeling pretty good about that right now

I started out with Vice City and never could get into 3 because it seemed like such a step back(especially the music)
well I sure as hell put my time into it.

When VC came out it was a huge breath of fresh air. Ray Liotta as Tommy is the GOAT GTA character. The soundtrack was killer, and the San Andreas as well.
