The story better be real good, because they have spent way too much effort on worthless details.

Gamers are kind of insufferable.
Claim that immersion is one of the biggest factors you look for in games but them complain when you get it

I'm looking forward to Lucia and Jason's toenail maintenance.
Ingrown nails would really adversely impact their ability to rob the corner store.

That hits both ways. Telling me I need to keep tapping X to make my horse run or charging a fee to fast travel because it creates greater immersion is just as dishonest.
Some of the details do seem like missing the tree for the forest. If environment is as important as rockstar always claims why don’t they ever select a location that actually has seasons? Hell, just routinely changing the billboards around the city is more immersive than wind patterns.

I hear you.
But there is a fine line between immersion and making the game an insufferable chore.
If I have to change clothes, fill up my gas tank, pay my cable bill, and check my tire pressure, just to outrun the cops, that wouldn't be fun.

Wait until your first death and you find yourself outside the hospital. To your surprise, you have to complete a fifteen minute physical therapy mission before you can leave.

I feel like I would be hearing way more about this game. Wtf is going on. What are they hiding.

Absolutely nothing. Not saying this is the right strategy, but they probably feel this game will sell like crazy without a big marketing campaign. I'm sure we'll get gameplay snippets the closer we get to release, but they are banking on the reputation of the series.

I am not being insufferable, but the story will always be more important than the immersion. Immersion is just a tool to make the story feel even better. I understand they cannot go into too much detail on the story for spoiler reasons, but the amount if time they have spent on immersion makes me hope they did not concentrate all effort there.
RDR2 had immersion and a great story, we can all hope the nail the same here.
