What channels usually can you get in 4K?

Channels? I am not sure but I doubt many if any at all. You aren't getting 1080p from channels.

Netflix has 4k but it is a stream service of course.

Wasn't BF4 a 60 FPS game on PS4? I think it was

Yes.

and as for Battlefield 1.

quote:

Neither the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 1 hit 1080p. The Xbox One's resolution is 720p and the PS4's is 900p. The only platform that managed 1080p was the PC and that was with a 970 GPU, which maintained 60 FPS throughout all gameplay modes. As expected, the game strives for 60FPS on all platforms, but dips to 45 FPS when Conquest mode adds the 64-player strain.

So is the general consensus more or less disappointment?

I think it is still yet to be determined. Still lots to learn about it.

If you wanted a disk drive for 4k Blue ray, you will be disappointed.

If you wanted some sort of power to rival the Scorpio you will be disappointed.

By all accounts the up scaling looks really great and at a decent price. It will be the best console on the market for awhile. It's pretty much what was expected, the people disappointed were the ones expecting some secret reveal I guess.

Is there a game that hit 1080p?

Yes. Almost all of them on PS4. A lot on XBONE but not as many.

Battlefield just wants that 60 fps so they drop it down a bit. The pro will have it at 1080p for sure.

Battlefield 1 sure didn't feel like 60 fps. Felt like 30 with framerate dips

So if you smarty pants dudes that understand all those numbers and specs, if you were a dude like me that A. likes pretty games, B. would occasionally use the PS4 for streaming on Netflix, MLB, ESPN, YouTube, would you recommend the upgrade even though I don't have a 4K screen as of yet (though may get one within the year)?

I mean, it's just $400...but still.

Since you already have a Ps4, no. IF you get a 4k screen down the line then it might be worth it but time will tell. You also have to get a TV that supports the right form of HDR as there is a somewhat format war going on there too although I hear it should be settled soon. My advice is to wait.

Mystery is doing his best to defend it though

It's 2.5x the power of the original, it'll be a large difference visually so if you care that much about pure graphics performance, yes it is worth it.

I think HDR10 is going to win the format war.

Already has tbh.

It's not really a format war like before, Atmos never really had a chance.

Haven't really kept up with 4k codecs, but everything I torrent now i make sure and find it in h.265 10 bit (HEVC). Looks loads better than the usual h.264 1080p codec and the file sizes are smaller.

Yeah, I think it will be like going from medium to ultra graphics on PC. You will definitely be able to tell a difference.

Did you come up with this all on your own?

They recommended a 60 inch tv unofficially (never said anything about their brand) and you post a 75 inch TV of theirs.

Nice.

I admit I'm potato on some of the specs, but a Samsung 4K Ultra HD HU8550 Series TV at 60" is less than $1,200 on Amazon.

Sounds like what the playstation.blog recommended. That's cheaper than the last 60" TV I bought.
