I think you're fine with either build, but I would favor Intel's IPC, unless you opt for a Ryzen CPU with more than 6 cores.

Saw the BF5 benchmarks showing Ryzen bottlenecking a 1070 at 1440?

The 1st Gen just doesn't clock high enough for gaming.

Nope, but that doesn't sound good. I'd certainly not opt for a 6-core Ryzen over a 6-core Intel.

Did you mean a 270 or 370? I listed a 370. Either way, it probably depends on the individual 8600k.

You think I should downgrade the cooler or power supply and upgrade Mobo?

Yeah, I mean Z370. Same principle applies - the components on a cheaper board won't tolerate as much overvolting. I wouldn't downgrade the cooler, because that's essential to overclocking. PSU is fine too, unless you happen to find a cheaper Bronze-rated one or something. Got to be careful about brands. You can save a few bucks by getting this seasonic with rebate: LINK Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with your PSU choice.

You may end up needing to spend another $100 to hit 5GHz on that CPU, so I wouldn't aim for that if you're on a budget. It will perform great regardless.

Why would anyone get a ryzen anyway for gaming if going for 1440p? I always assumed if getting a ryzen you dip into gaming performance for multitasking performance.

Only reason people get ryzen is because they're cheap or brainwashed by UH. Or both.

Nah man. I would really consider ryzen for a workstation.

How far are you behind man? 2nd Gen is out already. I even posted it as a potential build earlier in the thread.

Oh fckk lol

Far then. I didn't see reviews on my podcasts.

Edt: looking honestly thought it was APUs. That was a few months back? April?

I remember this now. Excuse me for overlooking. I pay very little attention to CPUs these days.

We are probably going to dive back into D2 and get into BF5, to start out on PC. I’m pushing $1300 with parts right now.

i5 8600k/1070 ti combo.

I am runnng a i5 8400 with 1070. I am happy with the combo and it is enough for my gaming right now. I am down for some BF5 when it is released.

What do you think about me looking for a used 980 ti instead of a 1060?

980 ti would probably give you 10 fps more than the 1060 on average, so just keep price difference in mind when searching.

What does this show? market share?

Edt: What is this even showing? That ppl upgraded and made new builds with Ryzen (cheaper) over Intel CPUs this past year?

Well, yeah why would they not? It is the cheaper option. CPUs are still not the biggest bottleneck. I still rather purchase an Intel CPU for gaming.

Please post the link to the article and show context. LINK
