Weird since most people feel this is an improvement over 13. They had some innovative ideas in this game. It just was missing the overarching, lengthy FF narrative that past games had. I realize this game had to be rushed, but I've enjoyed it much more than any other FF that I've played since X.

I'm trying to remember luna freyas brothers name. I cannot. His character was supposed to have an arc like Celes from FF6, apparently, but he had so little screen time and was so poorly developed that I can't even remember his damn name.
But I know that gladio likes cup noodles.
What in the actual frick.
I'm not overly invested at this point, so please don't crucify me for making light of the game a little.

The rumors of the huge cuts are probably true.
Screw it if they crucify you. I am huge FF fan and almost always defend the games but this game is a mess.

I actually can't call his name either but I'm just starting chapter 13; I think I can see what the issue is going to be getting through it that people are talking about
But anyway I quoted this to say that Aranea gave me a real Celes vibe. I mentioned it before but no one said anything. Am I the loner in this?

Haven't read through the thread. People have already finished it already?! Is it that easy or do yall not have jobs?
How many hours did y'all finish at?

I finished the main story at 43 hours or something like that. I haven't done any endgame yet though.

Did ya'll not watch Kingsglaive?
I feel like you have to have either not watched that, or you just didn't pay attention during the cutscenes to not know Ravus' name

I actually did not watch it.. but I recalled it shortly after my post lol. It was just a brain fart..
Now someone agree with me that Aranea = Celes!!

I can see people's frustration with the game. I have mine, but I also see a better future for the franchise.
Much that was bitched about 13 was fixed.
They will take the good and bad from this one and build upon it on the next.
Sucks that squares best in many eyes came out almost 20 years ago.
The next Star Wars won't give the fans the feeling empire did for the first time. We see it everywhere. Should square just quit making final fantasy because it's green rating isn't a perfect 100? That would be absurd. If your done with the Franchise as a fan then be done. It's okay. Millions more will just continue to enjoy the journey.

I don't get the chapter 13 hate. Sure it's frustrating and you are "underpowered" but I think that was the idea.
It didn't slow me down whatsoever and you get a nice weapon early on.
I thought about this a lot and I think I have an idea of where the criticism comes from.
Final fantasy is a truly unique franchise in gaming. It is one of the few if not the only third party gaming franchises that originated on the NES and has continued on every generation since. It even crossed over to PC.
Having that history gathers a ton of criticism from every realm of gaming and over 30 years of it. Square has taken chances changing up things and trying new things and they can't avoid the criticism it brings.
You are either going to love or hate a FF game and I happen to enjoy visiting all the unique universes FF brings and the lore and I like all the games.

Yeah I didn't hate ch. 13 either. It was a very overwhelming time for Noctis and that chapter did a good job to capture his struggle.

Pretty much. It is not like they are sitting around asking themselves " how can we ruin this franchise? " Almost every FF has been a success and some so successful that a game with an 8/10 raiting is considered a failure to some. 8/10......a failure......for a 15th numbered title.....

You're spot on.
I didn't stop at all during Ch 13, it just got old and there were SO many jump scares
At least for me haha.

Just finished the game and damn what an ending!! Final Fantasy games always do the best job of providing a fulfilling and cinematic ending to their games and this was no different.
Overall, I loved this game. It has some flaws and some pacing issues with the story that I can't deny. But they are not as bad as some have made them out to be. And the story turned out to be as grand and with as much mythological backstory that we have come to expect from the best Final Fantasy games.
Still got tons of side quests and hunts left to do for which I am thankful. But I took this weekend to finish the story chapters 9-14 and get engrossed in the ending and it paid off.

This game is so good, chapter 9 brought the feels for sure. 40 hours in and it's only getting better, level 44 at the moment.

Has anyone who finished it been to the Pitioss Ruins hidden platforming dungeon yet? It is kicking my arse and blowing me away with the level design.
Hard to believe they tucked something this awesome away in an almost impossible to reach corner of the map.

I just finished Pitioss, really curious to see what others think of it. There are tons of items in it and at the very end a legendary accessory.
But it is close to the hardest thing I've ever done in a video game. I rage quit more than once

is this the platforming one w/ no enemies?
If so, it was frustrating. But I found it more of a task than any real fun. Took me two hours or so w/out looking at a guide.
Of course like three days after I did it, someone found a shortcut to beat it in six minutes

Yea that one. I spent the better part of two days doing it,
I didn't use shortcuts though but I did see that video today, it blew my mind

Yeah, I had heard some things from some friends beforehand so I kind of knew what to expect. One of my friends spent like 7-8 hours trying to do it
