Had my first Reno fight. Took me two tries, definitely had to strongly rely on counter and dodge instead of just swinging my sword at everything

I just sat back in Punisher mode and abused him with counters lol

That wins that fight. That, kill the stupid electro mines, and dodge his one magic attack.

It's like a late lesson on the importance of Punisher mode blocking lol

It just seemed so out of place for Cloud as a character but what do I know lmao

It was a mission. Notice that he doesn't smile the entire game. In fact, it's been well documented that the first time anyone ever sees Cloud smile is the end of Advent Children.

Johnny's dad is low-key the funniest character in the game

The guy in the bar who needs his "inspiration"? That's not Johnny's dad. It's the dad of the guy in the clothing store.

No the one that's in the slums in the beginning than is hanging out at the honeybee inn later on

Lol whoever designed Sledgeworm is a dipshit. Horrible concept and even worse execution, worst fight in the game. Most infuriating thing in the game is wasting ATB charges, so you design an enemy that’s basically a whackamole game so you can waste lots of ATB? Just lol

Also what I have been saying. Interrupts are terrible.

Doing stuff like that ONCE every few hours is fine to give you a breather from fighting

It’s when they stagger it with multiple occurrences that it sucks. If they had just 1 arm section in the tunnel, that’d probably be ok. But when you have 3 arm sections staggered throughout the tunnel? That’s mindless filler and shitty game design

After reflecting a bit, I give this game a 3 out of 5. If I did half points, I would've given it a 2.5.

Did a lot of stuff very well, and a lot of stuff very poorly. Stings because it could've been soooo good. They had the pieces, but this just ended up being a reminder that Square is a shell of its former self.

up to ch 12, i was having an incredible time. it was almost pefect.

at ch 13 and on, i quickly started having less and less fun. and then it became a total clusterfrick once you get to Hojo's lab. after that, i couldnt wait for it to be over.

i mean, im not sure i could have envisioned a more disappointing direction for this game to have gone. its like they had no idea what made ffvii memorable in the first place.

i really dont see how anyone can play this game and think "yep. nailed it."

First chance I've had all week to play today. The Airburster fight was fricking awesome, the music was so good. Reno was a piece of cake after reading y'all's tip to just block in punisher mode the entire fight.

I do think chapter 6 was kinda lackluster, needed a real boss fight or something to spice it up.

Are the end quests worth doing or should I go straight to Corneo and continue the story?

theyre not anymore interesting than the side quests prior to that point, so if you enjoyed those, finish out the new ones. some are ok.

not sure if the game would be much harder later on without the grind of those last quests or not.

Wasn’t sure the point of running around to find chocobos to get more fast travel locations if you don’t even end up going back there after this point.

The Spirits Within bankrupted Square. Enix bought them in 2002.
