I'm almost done chapter 9. That Hellhouse fight kind of sucked, and even the Dynamite Body Quest Fight. I played that stupid squat mini game for far too long, I did end up with 51 squats though. I'm really loving this game so far.

Man it figures this would be the week for work to get crazy. Only able to get to Chapter 5 so far but I'm loving every minute of it now that I got the combat system down. They're doing a good job of making me care about Jessie, Wedge, and Biggs so much more than the original, gonna hurt like a bitch later.

Also makes sense on why you wouldn't be as attached to the story. With it being fairly new to you.
Ohh im versed in the story...twitch chat made sure of it. I mean the only thing I wasnt attached to was Aerith's death. Outside of that it was just as new to me as it was everyone else who played.

In the original:
-Wedge's fall from the pillar kills him
-Biggs dies on the stairwell
-Jessie's death is virtually unchanged
-Hojo tries to make Red and Aerith crossbreed (yes, I know it is disgusting)
-The party is thrown into cells at Shinra HQ, then released. They follow a trail of blood and bodies to the President's office and see Sephiroth's sword stuck through him and his chair
-After the motorcycle chase, the party descends on a crane to the surface
-Wedge's fall from the pillar kills him
-Biggs dies on the stairwell
-Jessie's death is virtually unchanged
-Hojo tries to make Red and Aerith crossbreed (yes, I know it is disgusting)
-The party is thrown into cells at Shinra HQ, then released. They follow a trail of blood and bodies to the President's office and see Sephiroth's sword stuck through him and his chair

I am not questioning if you know the story or not. That's another thing entirely.
It's akin to Star Wars. Somebody who just watched Star Wars OG before the sequels came out will have a harder time caring about the issues with the story in 8, then somebody who has played it many of times over 20 years. It's just natural to have less of an investment. And I say this knowing you have not even saw chapter 18 yet.

-Barret is never killed, then not killed.. wtf
We could honestly go on for awhile.
But the entire chapter 18 is the parts that are wild.

Look closely at Stamp at the end.
Throughout the entire game he's a beagle wearing a helmet.
In the controversial scene, he's a terrier wearing a cap.
Thats a big hint we may be dealing with alternate realities.

Wouldn't make much sense if it wasn't.
If it wasn't then how would he not have been in the story yet, since that happened in the past from the moment we were in. Nomora is going to have this so convoluted by the end.

The President is killed before you ever see him in a way that makes Seph creeper. Instead of an anime character
Having Sephiroth out front was a must for this. There's no way you could possibly pass him off as an endgame boss if you don't see him until the second part. That would be like Zemus/Zeromus from 4.

For every major death prevented that was supposed to play out a certain way, someone else has to die that wasn't supposed to...that's how the whispers work.

Or just don't include him has the big bad of the first. Just leave it as Rufus as the climax. People would have been fine with that.

How do we know this?

Rufus? Seriously?

Also, as we killed off the whispers, we got flashes of futures that have/have not come yet. One was Aerith dying, one was the Red ending scene. Are we to think that we just killed those futures off?

Pretty sure Red/Nanaki says this.
Also could the Whispers ultimately replace the Weapons?

Yes, Seriously. You don't need to shove a new big bad in your face at the end of part 1 of any trilogy. Up to that point in the story, Shinra is and should be the big bad. You could have spent more time on him, and not as much time on ghost cops.

Tseng, Heidelberg and Scarlet are worse than Rufus.
Rude, Reno and Reeve clearly have a conscience and a problem with what their company has been doing.
Hojo is horrible and Palmer is just creepy.

Doubt it. We just killed them off.
