Not sure what you mean there. I’m a huge turn based guy and liked it. Tifa looked good too. Only bad thing is Barrett. He sounds horrible. Hopefully I can take him out of the party when I want. Just hearing his goofy arse during the scorpion fight was annoying.

Seems insane that this game will take two blue rays and is only in Midgar.
How many games do they intend to make?
And how much story are they adding?
I hope it doesn’t get overly complicated like KH.

I just hope the game stays very faithful to the original story and dialog.

One way they could spoil it is by making the game aware of itself. They don't need to like artificially build up certain characters or moments. Also no need to constantly stop the game to show off new environments all fancy over and over again. Let the environments sort of speak for themselves without shoving them in your face.

The combat looks cool but there's so much going on on the screen I have no idea wtf is happening.

You can play it slower. Using the ATB freeze.

But I don’t see how the story won’t get that way. With it just being in Midgar they will be adding a lot of dialogue.

I feel like you're being a bit cynical. The plan from the original reveal was to flesh out the game with the budget and technology they have available to them. Midgar will be more opened up. More than half of the city is inaccessible in the original game.

With the expanded universe of games, movies, etc. there's more to the story than just the original game. I think it makes sense to include some of those things in the remake.

Indeed. I think it’s the future going forward and I’m okay with it. I was actually a fan of 12’s combat, the flow of 13’s, the mobility of 15’s. It’s like they gave us a combation of all that while keeping ATB and materia important. Really surprised by it all. It was just beautiful and encouraging for the franchise.

Yoshi P...your up.

@jasonschreier Just asked Yoshinori Kitase how many games are going to be in the Final Fantasy VII remake - he said he can't say yet "because we don't know ourselves."

Wellllll.......

I'm sticking with my prediction of three separate games. The initial rumors of part one taking place entirely in Midgar have turned out to be quite accurate. Though I also think Kitase is being a little dishonest for dishonesty's sake with his response. They know exactly how many parts they are going to release IMHO.

Well shite, I misinterpreted what they were saying about the two Blu-Rays/episodic release bs. I assumed it was the entire game on two discs, not just Midgar. If that's what they need to do to make a good game, then so be it, but it is a bit annoying.

Considering the PS4 base/Pro cannot read UHD Blu-Rays, I assume the max capacity will be ~50GB, which means the 3/3/20 "Midgar game" should be around 100GB (if they use typical dual-layer Blu-Ray).

ETA: Welp..

I just wish they weren't changing so much. RE1 is the gold standard for remakes; they only updated what was necessary.

And the same people are arguing he's "too black" when he talks.

Maybe a troll, but one dude wrote a paragraph on why Squaresoft's translation team tried to force Barrett's dialogue to resemble Mr. T, and that the original Japanese Barrett was a "Russian with dark skin" that didn't cuss.

Sony Japan handled the translation in the original. I don't think it was intentional but they REALLY turned up the ebonics for him. That's just how Japanese companies were back then though. Like they thought every white person in the US had blonde hair and blue eyes.

It looks similar to FF XV combat which, honestly, disappoints me.

I don’t see that at all.
