FF6 SNES
This was how I experienced it and I loved it.
The remastered PC version throws me off with the different sprites. But it's the same game (and arguably better). Some of the stats were bugged in the SNES version and they now work in the PC port.

FF7 is my favorite, and yes, I played 6 before it and I love 6.
7 just hit me at the right time, new console, teen, FMV, great cast and story, the opening scene just grips you (and the remake maintained that magic)
I've never thought about Arydn vs Kefka. I'll have to think about it but I'm leaning Arydn. I still need to play his dlc it's the only thing I haven't played of XV
But 6 has the best overall cast of characters, 6 should be remade next.
I freaking love Chrono Trigger as well

Ardyn tries to destroy the world. Kefka succeeds.
False. He did succeed and the name of the chapter where you fight him is a direct reference to FF6.

I liked FF when it was more medieval in tone, swords and shields and stuff.
Then why not play 12? It's more medieval than every FF outside of the OG and 9.

Same here for me, I still recall the TV commercial for Santa promoting FFVII and all of the hype surrounding the game.

Completely sucked into 12 on PC now. 4x's mode is great. I never made it past the Dalmasca Westersands on PS2.

Final Fantasy XV: Yes. Ardyn
best villain of them all
He was dislikeable for sure but I didn't despise him even as much as Seifer from VIII. I actually felt kinda empathetic towards Ardyn minus that one murder he committed (*no spoiler).
Couldn't stand Seymour from X.

This is certainly subjective, but wouldn't you feeling empathy towards the antagonist be a sign of a well made and developed character? It's pretty easy to create a scum of the earth character.
