GB got me into tanking. Now I have got pally to 80 and am working on the dark knight.

Pally heal is nice but it’s just not as fun to play as GNB. DRK is not 50 yet so I’m not going to judge but the glams on point.

I feel bad for not posting in this earlier.

But Endwalker is out!

Login shenanigans aside, I've been having a lot of fun with it so far. The MSQ is so looooooong.

Funny story.

Back on ARR launch I basically joined and FC and skipped all cutscenes to get to endgame ASAP. That skipping just made me skip all of HW and Stormblood. I paid attention in Shadowbringers but decided about a month ago I need to replay the MSQ and actually pay attention if I want the full endwalker experience.

So I sat in a 5k Que for 2 hours last night just beat shiva in Post ARR patches again.

FML. I’m paying for my sins.

Yoshi P is giving us 7 days free if not more if the troubles continues. That’s nice.

Gonna share this each time the thread is bumped.

Never thought I’d see XIV reach this point. It’s certainly deserved.

Endwalker launch has been a complete shitshow.

7K queue lines. People keep getting kicked from the queue and sent to the back of the line, effectively meaning that if the queue time is too long, you're just SOL or you can keep beating your head against a brick wall in hopes that you get lucky.

The only way I could possibly play yesterday was by logging into the game at 7 AM. By 11 AM CT on Sunday, the queues were already in the 3k range.

Fanboys blame Covid19, but it's yet another example in a long long long line of multiplayer games being a complete shitshow at launch because studios refuse to buff server infrastructure to support the launch rush.

Ehhh the dev team has been pretty open about the issues and have been for awhile now regarding the release. We all knew this was coming. I do believe them when they say they tried to get more servers but just could t due to chip shortages or whatever. This is squares bread and butter right now and Yoshi p has essentially been giving the funds to do what he needs.

Also in my 5k Q. I got 2002 maybe 5 -6 times but just kept trying to get back in as it does save your spot for a bit of time and each time I got back in was was where I was when I got kicked or in a better spot.

I don't think this conversation would be much different if Covid didn't exist. Error 2002 was apparently a thing that existed long berfore Endwalker, and SE never fixed it.

And how long was Endwalker in development for before the Covid Pandemic?

I'm sorry they waited until a global supply shortage caused by the pandemic before they entertained the thought of buying more servers.

I can promise you that the error 2002 "saving your spot" doesn't work for everyone. I tried about 5 or 6 times on Friday and about the same number of times today, and ever single time, I was knocked further and further back into the queue.

That's really the biggest kick in the nuts. The queues are one thing, but the game's own inability to keep you connected to the login server is literally kicking you back to the beginning of the line, making queuing completely pointless to begin with.

While AAR was the worst MMO launch I have ever seen (not surprised that EW turned out this way), this kind of thing is not new to multiplayer games. It took Blizzard until Diablo 3 to get their shite together, and I hear the Diablo 2 Remaster had its own series of problems.

I’m sorry a huge spike in new players happend this year during covid when shortages were already an issue.

Nobody saw this coming. Not like this.

There's literally 16 years of history that they can draw from, including multiple times with their own game

Um huh. Nothing evolves or changes over a 16 year period.

For example: people being mad at MMo launches.

I would gladly sit in a queue of 15,000 players if that meant that I didn't have to worry about getting kicked out of the queue and loosing my place in line

EDIT: Just got to #1, error 4004 (hadn't seen that one before). Could not get logged back into queue due to error 2002 before I was able to even connect to the data center.

Finally got back in. Now I'm #7,000. If you want to defend this shite, go ahead. frick this game

I'll check it out again in about a month.

Yeah I’ve gotten from about 3000s-2000s and always kicked which is probly a blessing in disguise because I could study a little more for exams this week. I’m looking forward to EW but I started over several months ago with a goal of accomplishing all the side quests along the way so I’m only back to post Stormblood content. I’m not mad that I’m missing out on the new story (though I am pumped because shadowbringers def killed it); however, I would actually like to play the game lol. I got into a 400 queue this morning but almost as soon as I actually made it in game I got called into work because of some bs they needed help with; by the time I returned it we were back in the 3000s so I just gave up then.

This has definitely been a bit catastrophic; I don’t remember the other releases being this bad. It is stand up of them to give back a week of play time.

The link above shows paints an example of what the projected growth was for endwalker vs the actual growth that occurred this summer. It’s probably worse.

I get people are mad because people gonna people but like you I made plans this weekend. Most weekends in December. Started the MSQ over. Bro I’m chillin. People wanna call it fanboi or whatever but this launch was never going to be smooth and anyone who thought otherwise well....is just an idiot.

When ARR launched, probably half the NA/EU population played on Japanese servers because it was virtually impossible to connect to a data center outside of Japan.

Months later SE offered free server transfers and people moved to the NA/EU data center after the launch rush had calmed down.

Regarding the week of playtime, this makes no sense to me. Are they going to pro-rate my monthly sub?

Sorry to hear people are having issues getting in. Logged in at noon today and only waited about 20 minutes. Friday at 8 it was about an hour.

When you do get in though you’ll find the MSQ is an absolute masterpiece

Whenever I’ve gotten kicked in queue and go back in I’m closer than where I was previously. Most of my FC mates have indicated the same. Sounds like a you problem?

Is there a plan where you’re automatically subbed every month? I’m not sure how they tackle that.. I normally buy a 3 or 6 month sub at a time so I’d just assume instead of ending at x it’ll end at x+7 before I have to buy my next one.
