Great summary. I did really love the story. I didn't quite put on the same level as you, but it was very good. I do think I need to redo the last dungeon one more time, because I think I was rushing through pieces of it.
It was a very satisfying ending and the last pieces were super well done. Highly recommended to everyone.
It doesn't quite work that way. You can choose either class and switch between them whenever you feel like it. You have some ways to go before unlocking Red Mage though.

Just found this thread. Jumped back in with the new exp, but I'm still slogging through Stormblood content (and enjoying every minute).
Can't wait to finally get to Shadowbringers to see what everyone's raving about.

While I enjoyed the main story of Stormblood, the rest of it did feel like a chore. While I was cynical of Shadowbringers at first, it did win me over. I hope you enjoy it!

Alright, I'm going to necro-bump this one. I took a year long break after 5.1 launched and I've fallen back into the game really hard.
FF14 is just skyrocketing in popularity with the wave of WoW streamers and players abandoning Blizzard. If anyone wants to jump in, would love to have you in Eorzea.

I have been saying FFXIV has been the best MMO since HeavansWard.

You played on Excalibur iirc right?
Sic played a bit before Shadowbringers launched but he fell off again. I still have the TD linkshell.

I keep thinking I'll jump in and play it casually and realize that just never works. Especially after they've revamped combat 2 or 3 times since my last time on.
I'd love to be able to jump on and do a few dungeon runs or something and be done. About all I would have time for.

Classes get tweaked with every expansion, so it's only about to change again. I do think casual play is viable, but it's really just clearing the content and unlocking the various challenges. I've had a lot of fun just playing through the new 24 man content, the beast tribes, and all of the different story/easier raid+trial content.
They've really added a ton of great new content in the past several years.

Gotcha. I remember looking and see your classes still at 50, so I assumed it was all from your Legacy account. You and Sic both played 1.0, right?

I played 2 classes up to level 60, whatever expansion that was....Heavensward I think. I dropped off and have tried to play periodically since thing. I purchased Shadowbringers but never got to the content. I have a Paladin leveled to 55, I believe, but when they completely revamped that class I fell off completely.

I actually do play pretty casually. I played through Shadowbringers when it launched and wasn’t really that active for patches and newer content but I actually started a new character with a goal to do every quest so I just come on and play for awhile and do whatever.. but I get sidetracked doing different things in the game. Right now I’ve been on a bit of a Feast binge with the new season going

That's kinda sad, because the changes they've made to Paladin have made the class much more fun to play.

I was just crestfallen because I had already gotten a solid feel for the class and didn't have it in me to learn it again. I think I relied on flash too much.
I don't mind tanking because DF waits are not nearly as long. I might try the others of I get back into it.
ETA I just looked at Lodestone, my PLD is actually 58.
