Fextralife - Review Logic (Veilguard)

I know there's already a thread for Veilguard, but I thought this video was pretty telling in a way that discusses why publishers might restrict who reviews their game (and how Cyberpunk 2077 had a similar issue). It's pretty interesting, and while Veilguard is the catalyst for making it I felt it had a lot of interesting info that could be applied to future games, regardless if they applied it because of politics, quality, bugginess, etc.

Classic EA. Not surprised at all.
I agree with Fex that it's not likely people are being paid or intentivized to give good reviews, but they 100% underwent a highly selective screening process

I find it fascinating, and silly, that some executives are working "positive reviews" into their bonuses. Logically you'd think sales matters - if you make a game that reviewers find mediocre but hits a niche and sells 5 million copies, then who cares if your metacritic score is 71?

Seriously. I hope at some point economics wins out and reverse things over time but for now big budget video games becoming so damn gay wasn't on anybody's bingo card 20 years ago.
The supply of gay is way, way greater than the demand. In pretty much every form of entertainment.

It’s almost as if the market isn’t deciding this but some sort of cabal is.
