Fellow Monster Hunter fans?

It took me a long time to get into this game. I finally got into Monster Hunter: World/Iceborne a couple years ago and have a good 200 hours in it.
Picked up Monster Hunter: Rise but the world/style is a bit more arcadey so haven't explored as much.
They just announced the next iteration due in 2025-- Monster Hunter: Wilds which seems to have more of a World type feel. God I love this series.

I skipped Rise but am looking forward to Wilds. I loved World.

I put a solid 70-80 hours or so into Rise. Arcadey, yes, but pretty fun. Eventually just burned out due to repetitiveness. I really only used Long Sword and Daggers. Dabbled with the Switch Axe. Using other weapons increases replayabilty by a lot.

My first go around in World was all Greatsword, then ran again a bit with a Hammer. I'm replaying now and actually mixing it up with Greatsword, Hammer, Longsword and Bow.
I think most people think I'm nuts for replaying from scratch rather than just making the new weapons but I want to get the feel for them building up from the easier monsters rather than just making powerful versions and getting my dick kicked in as I have no experience with them.

Correction:
I put 263 hours into Rise
Yeah, I enjoyed it
I agree with you regarding the new character. You really need experience with each weapon before tackling these end game monsters

Just a casual miss of 180 hours. Wilds isn't out until 2025 so I'll probably still have time for Rise in between.

I like the idea of MH, but I always get so overwhelmed with the crafting

There are fortunately guides that give you the best path for weapon crafting. Armor is largely a dealer's choice.

There are a ton of armor options, but you can always just pick a full set from a monster and go with it until you find another that has a skill or two you like. As you get into the later game, it'll be more worth to look into a specific setup but you'll be more versed into what you like and need to build for.
Been playing off and on since Freedom Unite on PSP but never the end-most of the games. Took up World and Rise to their last story bits before the expansions came out and just this week jumped back on Sunbreak to scratch the itch.

We're 11 days out from Wilds. This one is looking pretty good apparently.

I've been playing the sh*t out of the open betas. Huge fan of the series so I'm all over this for day one.

Had a lot of fun with the beta. Completed all of the hunts so I’m saving myself into it comes out

I skipped the open betas. Sounds like you had good experience?

Never could get into it.
I tried World and the whole “fight, chase the monster, fight again” process wore on me.
Just couldn’t get on board.
Just seemed like arbitrary prolongation of a fight.

It honestly was great for me because I wasn’t really clicking with the combat for my first few weapons and gave up. Came back this weekend to give it another chance and hammer has been a revelation for me. Kind of tedious but learning the combos and finding some weapon that fits your play style is paramount for having fun.
