Drama with GW2 Studio firing two employees due to verbal spat with fans on twitter

So this happened last week, but I want to talk about it because the way it has blown up is ridiculous.
I am absolutely astonished that people exist on this planet who are upset with ArenaNet for firing the two developers.
When you work for a company, you represent them in all aspects of your life, especially social media pages where you make it known what you do for a living and actively encourage discussion about game design topics relating to the game you are working on.
A company cannot abide by its employees publicly chastising its customer-base. It's ridiculous that she was offended over the streamer's comments in the first place, but if she was, she should have just stopped all correspondence right there. What is it with Twitter turning people into idiots?

Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet has fired two of its developers, following a disagreement with a streamer on Twitter. Narrative designer Jessica Price and Peter Fries, a writer who’d been with ArenaNet for more than 12 years, were dismissed for what ArenaNet is calling “a [failure] to uphold our standards of communicating” with the game’s players....

It's insane.
I would understand if the guy was being a total a-hole, but he disagreed SLIGHTLY in a tactful way.
Also, the way that article claims how they are victims to online harassment pisses me off.
I'll never understand why almost every gaming news site is run by pussies.

I just picked a random article off the internet. I didn't realize it was from Vox Media

After using terms like emotional courtesan and emotional labor they should be have been smart enough to know posting on twitter opens you up to opinions whether you like it or not.

Chick is going off on a twitter storm right now. I'm sure it won't be "I'm a female. I work in gaming. World is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard and unfair. Because vagina"

And here in lies the rub. This wasn’t some random fan.

Wow she went off on someone who partners with her company? Amazingly short-sighted.

Here Spoiler Alert: (current year) and I am STILL dealing with being a woman in this industry!!!
Reading through her older posts on twitter and doing some digging online, she is a nutcase. It's surprising she was ever hired by Arenanet. Obviously I can see why she was fired. Most companies don't like it when you publicly insult their client base.
I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of Anet employees share her sensibilities, but damn she seems toxic in virtually any other role she's been in.

Why do I have the feeling this snowflake thinks she is so influential in the industry as a female developer but couldn’t tell me who Roberta Williams or Christy Marx are?
