Any glimmer of hope for this one?
A good friend of mine who loves RPG's says that he loves it and this games version of Nightmare is unreal.

Highly disappointing. I was very much looking forward to playing this game.

I got torchlight instead.

I'm starting to lose faith in Bioware, which is sad, there was a point when I thought they could do no wrong.

I think I'll still play Mass Effect 3 though. I gotta know how that ends. I think I'm done at that point.

only major complaint I have so far is that I'm getting really tired of seeing the same dungeon map over and over again.

guys... a few closed doors doesn't make this cave different from the one on the other side of the map.

Let me start by saying I am playing on the 360 with the special edition, and 90% of all preorder unlockables. (Only ones I dont have are from the Facebook game, just got my key yesterday; yes I have the unlockable armor from Dead Space 2)

I'm 17 hours in and really enjoying it. There is a lot of time spent in the main city but new parts keep opening up and there are tons of quests. You only get to be Hawke but everyone knew that going in so I am not sure how that disappoints some people? The combat system in this one blows away Origins, though I feel, so far, that Origins had a marginally better story. Though with only 17 hours in I have not really gotten to far into it. They say the game covers 10 years of time so that you can see how decisions made in 1 portion will cascade through the years, so far this has proven true and the effects are building. By the end of the game I am sure the story will be on par with what Origins offered.

Also, if you played Origins, there are TONS of nods to it. Names of buildings, small items, and several of the characters make cameos and 1 (from an expansion) even joins up if you want them too.

All in all, I feel very worth the purchase. Judge it on its own merits, and not in a comparison to anything else.

yeah, I've got as much playtime as you do... and it seems like a lot of the 'story' is menial tasks for random people. Obviously we haven't done anything to warrant the title "Champion" so I'm eager to see what that comes from.

Anders should be, but isn't.

Ditto Fenris.

Varric comes across too goody-goody. He should be more shady, imo.

Is it just me, or does it appear they engineered the game so that you have considerabvly more opportunity to initiate gay relationships, than straight?

I pretty much had to tell Anders to leave me the hell alone.

Varric is definetly a great character.

I am playing as a rogue/assassin spec. Unbelievable dmg, but sweet jesus dont get hit. I used the Emporium to respec as an archer, a ton of damage but its situational and difficult if you get targeted, so I switched back. Course I wasnt running with a tank at that point.

My party set up is staying with Rogue, Rogue, Tank, Mage mostly.

I usually play female characters in RPGs, and I'm having a hard time getting girl/girl action. The game seems like it's trying to push Anders and Fenris

This.

Need some "Damnit Im not gay" armor or something. Finally put the rails to Isabella though.

Mine is Mage, Rogue, extra DPS (mage/warrior), tank

right now I've got a suboptimal party makeup because I'm working on Aveline's quests so it's Me, Fenris, Varric, Merrill. Never leave home without Varric, though

Play a dude, and they are trying to force you to Anders.

I didn't get a legit shot at a female until after the Deep Roads.

Fenris is stupid. If anything involves helping anyone with any manner of magic, you have to leave the little bitch at home.

The guard chick is about as lively as cardboard, too.

No

You meet her at the Hanged Man in act 1.

well frick, guess I missed her

guess those spoilers don't matter anymore

I'm planning on doing a second playthrough with preset histories and a different character/class anyway, since there seems to be a lot of replay potential.. so I'll make sure to get her then

The first time I went in Hanged Man I had a cutscene that introduced her.

I kept Varric for a while. If you got the extra content with the prince, his archer abilites are freakin ridiculous.
