Well they lost a sale from me. Not that I’m too sad because Divisoon 1 was a let down but I hope more AAA devs don’t follow suit

I was getting it through uPlay anyways, and it's still going to be available there so.

Y'all are retarded for not buying a game because of a launcher.

Oh geez guys Walmart sells the groceries I really want but I only shop at Target. Guess I'll never get them.

Uppity nerds.

It’s because I don’t like having my friends list and library fractured among platforms. Also Steam has community hubs for games with discussion boards and screenshot sharing.

Your Walmart/Target comparison is not even relatable

Yes it is.

Do your friends play the same game? If yes, did they also have the same launcher? Yes. Most likely they are on the friends list there too.

Steam would have made you go through uPLAY anyway. Might as well just buy it there

I don't mind that. I just like having it on Steam for the aforementioned community hub, tracking hours, and all the other gimmicks that rival DRMs lack.

I have 361 friends. They play various games. But you know what that's like or understand so I will no longer waste time debating it with you.

So what if your friends buy it? You just gonna say no because of the launcher?

Give it enough time and humanity will ruin a good thing. What is the point of cord cutting when all the shows are split across 15 different services that charge you $15 a month?

Similarly, what is the advantage of digital distribution when every publisher has their own service and you're game library is split across 5-6 different platforms?

What Epic is doing reminds me of when EA bought an exclusive license to make NFL football games. They're giving a ridiculous share of the profits to developers in return that they make digital distribution of their game exclusive to their platform.

I will never use the EPIC launcher again.

This must be one of those “first world problems” for PC players.

wait so they're allowing companies that develop the game a way to distribute without giving up a huge chunk of the profit. the audacity

It's not like I wouldn't buy a game if it launched on the Steam store, and I wanted it.

As a general rule though, I like to have my PC games under one platform. I don't want to have 47 different digital distribution services installed on my PC just to access my game's library.

I'm willing to bet the playerbase dries up quicker on other platforms because the install base isn't as high. While Fortnite is an exception because it's free, I won't be surprised if AAA games like FO76 and BLOPS 4 are a laughable and mediocre fraction of what they are by the end of the year.

Not to mention with Steam games, if you enable Steamworks mod support, it's amazing.
