I logged in on Monday to play and all my gear was gone, about shite a brick.
Had to go onto battlenet and do a rollback.

Just finished off Diablo with my 48 level Monk.

Depends. If you want experience, do act one broken blade quest. Talk to aleric then find crypt of the ancients. That will give you a checkpoint. Kill all mobs in crypt then portal back to town and exit. Resume game and the portal in town will put you back in the crypt again. Just repeat that over and over on the highest difficulty you can clear effectively for great xp.
For looting you can do skeleton king quest in act 1 or core of arreat in act 3.
