...but released it on Windows and they sell the game in Israel. Virtue-signaling losers. LINK

Regarding Xbox
In June 2026 we announced that the release of Big Walk would be limited to computers, Switch 2 and PS5. Since then, we have received many messages and comments, asking about a future Xbox release. We would like to address those questions here:

We have made the decision not to release Big Walk on Xbox, in accordance with the Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft, and their designation of Microsoft Games (and Xbox) as a priority boycott target. If you need help understanding our motives, we would recommend reading about why Microsoft is a BDS priority target, the successes this kind of pressure has already had on Microsoft, and especially, watching this great introductory piece by People Make Games.

It has always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and we know that keeping the game off Xbox runs counter to those intentions. This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing. We are disappointed too.

We would love for people to be able to play the game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.

We’ve made this decision with the belief that meaningful change can be made in the world, that coordinated collective action can confront even the most powerful interests, and that one day, Palestine will be free.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
House House

Never heard of it either, but the original Tweet I saw about this phrased it as "developer explains why game of the year contender isn't coming to XBOX." Clear clickbait, obviously, but when I dug into the story I thought the developer's obvious hypocrisy was hilarious.

They obviously felt virtue signaling their Jew hatred was important, but certainly not important enough to let them to lose that Windows money. Jew hatred is a strange malady.

This is the developer who made Untitled Goose Game, so they have made at least one decent game in the past.

I don't support BDS, but I don't see their stance as being contrary to BDS. They don't want to give Microsoft or Israel money. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Microsoft makes any money on games sold on, for example, Steam. Microsoft does make money on Xbox games, on the other hand. And boycotting a country doesn't mean you can't sell them things and take their money

So, again, I don't support the cause, but I don't see how this runs counter to the cause, either.

Releasing a game on Windows supports Windows as a platform for gaming.

It should be noted that the BDS movement does not support your take and they do call for a complete boycott of Windows. LINK

quote:

As a consumer, boycott Microsoft products whenever possible. Here are some examples:
Microsoft Gaming products (Xbox, Bethesda Softworks Activision Blizzard King)
Cancel Xbox Game Pass Subscription
Uninstall & boycott key games owned by the company such as Minecraft, Call of Duty, Candy Crush, etc.
Boycott Xbox Platform (e.g. Xbox Console or Xbox App on PC) & Hardware (Consoles, Controllers, Headsets, etc.).
Microsoft Surface Hardware (Laptops, Headsets, accessories).
Microsoft AI / Copilot:
Avoid using Microsoft’s AI Copilot standalone app or extensions in Bing, Edge, Windows, Office, etc.
Change your Microsoft 365 subscription to avoid paying for Microsoft’s AI / Copilot (e.g. change from “Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Microsoft 365 Copilot” plan to “Microsoft 365 Business Basic” plan).
Microsoft Operating System, Office Suit, Browser, Search services and other tools (Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Bing, MSN, Teams, Skype etc.). Consider switching free and open software instead of another, possibly complicit company.

I didn't make these stupid rules. I just think people/companies who virtue-signal by trying to claim they're following them should actually hold themselves to the standards they're claiming to hold.

I've only given it a once over, but I don't think I agree. Telling people not to use Windows isn't the same thing as allowing people who do use Windows to use your product.

This I somewhat agree with, but that's getting kind of attenuated. As a random example, if an organization that owns gas stations called for the boycott of Mercedes, those gas stations refusing to sell fuel to people who own a Mercedes seems like quite a step beyond a simple boycott. Now, I'm not saying you couldn't take that step, but I don't think they are inherently linked.

If you say so. Seems like going out of your way to defend hypocrisy, but it's certainly your right to do so.

And I think you’re going out of your way to find a reason to shite on your political opponents, so it sounds like we both think the other could find better uses for their time

Maybe. As you can see from my initial post, my working assumption is that Microsoft gets a piece of every Xbox game sold. If that is accurate, then no, I would consider that different. If they don't, then I would consider them to be the same.

After a very quick google search, it looks like Microsoft doesn't get anything from physical 3rd party game sales, but it does take 30% from digital sales.

So... kinda a mixed bag

That's certainly one way to admit I destroyed your argument.

And to be clear, the BDS movement isn't people who are my "political opponents." They are people who do not believe Israel has a right to exist. No one who is in favor of ending the state of Israel is worth knowing, in any capacity. Everyone should always be willing to point out the stupidity and hypocrisy of morons such as these. These people do not have a "political side" where they are welcome in any functioning society.

Or...not at all a mixed bag and exactly what I called it from the start. It's okay to admit you were just letting your backside do the talking for you.

Why do you insist on being so ridiculously fricking annoying all the time?

I'm not the one who jumped into a thread and started saying stuff completely false. You did that. No one asked you to do that. You did that all on your own.

And you then tripled down on it. You look like a moron and are now trying to claim I'm the problem. Nope, it doesn't work that way. You are the problem in this thread.

Please point out the "completely false stuff" I posted. We'll go from there.
