Each character gets 1 as a quest reward.
You can also buy them for 50 dust. You can get dust from bright engrams randomly.
I am sure you can pay real money for it too. But don't do that.

How the hell is that possible?
I know certain things matter like having a really good TV and really good internet and stuff, but it seems like PvP shooter skill really depends on time spent playing more than anything. That has to take an unreal amount of time.

Ehh, I mean I play with guys who are 25-35 who have jobs and families and are above 2+ KD's. Some above a 3. They don't play anymore than I do which is primarily in the evenings.
Destiny is pretty much the only shooter they play too aside from a little bit of COD during content droughts.
ETA: I think some people are just really good at shooters. Playing a lot can certainly help someone improve, hell I went through it in-between year 1 and TTK of Destiny. I sucked arse and decided I wanted to get better and started practicing every day and saw my K/D skyrocket over time.
But when it comes down to it, I'll never be able to become a 2 K/D player consistently. There is just another level on the skill meter that most people can't touch.

I don't find K/D really tells you much about how skilled a player is unless the only game mode they play is clash.

Well in Trials it's not a bad meter along with KA/D. Win percentage I guess is more telling.

I'm apparently missing something when it comes to the melee in pvp
There were probably double digit times list night where I'd round a corner and melee a guy, he then hits me, I hit him and take him to about 5% health, he hits me and I die. We both got two melee's in, neither of us fired a shot.

I'm right there with you. I'm a consistent 1.25-1.5 k/d player and that's probably the best I'll ever be
If you're solo playing, there is so much luck involved with who you match with. There are so many games where I don't really do anything differently, but one game I'm going up against a lot of 1v1 or 2v1 in my favor, the next game I'm always outnumbered in every encounter. Even the really good players, when they take on a bunch of randoms, those randoms don't venture far from them. However, when anybody normal gets matched with a bunch of randoms, there is no communication at all. That really makes it difficult to get those 2+ k/d's consistently.

My PVP set up is Halfdan-D auto rifle (slow firing but big impact), Coldheart trace rifle, and either Hawthornes shotgun or merciless (depending on game type)
For PVE, I'll use the Halfdan-D or Uriel's gift, Coldheart or riskrunner depending on the event, shotgun or sword.
I am at 274 and have only done the flashpoint on Titan this week. Still have crucible and nightfall.
BTW, need someone to do nightfall with. Haven't done it all this game.

I really need to get Uriel's Gift. That gun has been shredding me recently, but I can't find any vendor that has it listed as a potential drop from one of their engrams.
I've mainly been running MIDA, Jiangshi AR4, and no clue for heavy. switch between a shitty rocket and a decent fusion. I'll sometimes use the Nightshade, but right now with auto rifles and MIDA where they are, the pulse rifles are just a little too slow.
I'll try and load up a clip from last night if I can of some rocket launcher bullshite.

I did my milestones last night and got to 283. Mod buying time.

I hope this isn't a cardinal sin, but does anyone infuse a legendary with exotic? I have a 272 vest that I like and a 282 chest that I can't wear because i have exotic gloves that I don't have a legendary to change to. Should i hold out for higher legendary gloves and use the 282 chest then?

I played one round of crucible last night and that's all I saw.

Its good. People underestimate the subs for close quarters in Control. Also, for just killing, the Coldheart can be hip-fired accurately. Getting the first shot in will usually give you a leg up on getting the kill.

1 round? You may have been getting killed by the same guy.

It was another clan and I think all of them had it, or at least 2 of them. Game was fun, but all I got was a chest piece that I didn't need so I decided to run a few strikes.

Be careful with the infusion. Most exotics have 5+ mods that wont transfer with the infusion. If you have a 282 exotic, and 272 legendary chest you will get 277. You can always rebuy the exotic from your vault as well, and infuse it again later on.

Yea, pretty much all I've seen is the Midnight, MIDA, and Uriel's Gift and the raid rocket launcher. Probably should have gotten the Midnight over the Nightshade, but damn was the nightshade good in the Beta.
The crucible drops have been very hot and cold. Gone many many games without getting anything of use then another night went like 4 games in a row getting either an exotic or a good legendary drop.

Did not realize this. Good info.

This is also good info. I knew I could rebuy them, but I didn't think to infuse them later. This makes sense.
And yes, my 282 has a mod.
