The PS3 was released November 11, so I would assume sometime around there. Allows a number of shipments to come in before Christmas, meaning more money for stores
I wound up pre-ordering mine at my Gamestop on the way home from work. Unsure if I will be up there at midnight to pick mine up and take the next day off (likely scenario) or just get mine after work that day and take the next day off

Launch is a guarantee it will be on your doorstep the day of its release. Standard says you may get it release day but no promises

Nothing. Amazon just put a guarantee on the launch version for day 1. Standard version may still be day 1 but maybe not. As they do not know how much stock they will have.

I would not think they will open up the launch version again. If I had to guess the standard versions would turn in to launch versions,going by time of your order, as they get a bigger ps4 allotment.
I would say yes get the standard or you could try a site like gamestop or bestbuy, they may guarantee day 1 still. I am not sure.
