CD Projekt has announced that alongside the upcoming expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 will also be getting a full sequel.
"Orion is a codename for our next Cyberpunk game, which will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe," the studio tweeted.
There are no details at this point except that it's happening, but multiplayer may be a factor: CD Projekt also said that its future plans include "introducing multiplayer to most of our new games to enrich the singleplayer experience."
It's been quite a turnaround for Cyberpunk 2077, which was in a very rough state when it launched in 2020: Two years down the road, following multiple updates and a popular Netflix anime, player counts are surging(opens in new tab), and it recently surpassed 20 million unit sales(opens in new tab).
CD Projekt also announced that it's got a new Witcher trilogy in the works alongside an entirely original project codenamed Hadar, and that its long-term outlook is to establish "three enduring franchises" featuring both "singleplayer stories and multiplayer experiences."

Didn't they basically kill their staff just to make one Cyberpunk game over a decade?
How the hell are they gonna make a Witcher trilogy, a new Cyberpunk and a new IP? Is this over the next 100 years?

They're moving to Unreal Engine going forward. Part of the idea is to be able to hire more developers quickly without having them learn an old proprietary engine.

I've seen some claims that they hired a very large number of people but I am dubious of the numbers being floated. They do have the money since current sales numbers are 20 million + for Cyberpunk. And 2 million of those are recent with the Edgerunners resurgence.
Having said that, I think it was nuts to announce so many games given they couldn't get Cyberpunk out without a million problems. And heck, I loved it Day 1. Worked fine on my PC.
Did they not learn how dangerous it is to promote a game 10 years before release?

Looks like I’ll be doing a 5th play through when that releases.

I'm really hoping that you can bring over a NG+, or even ++ to the new version. I know a lot of game designers bristle at NG+ because it interferes with "gameplay progression", but if there is any game in which that shouldn't matter, it's the Witcher. It's not a start from nothing traditional hero's journey, going from helpless to badass along the way. You're a (nearly) hundred year old witcher, whose training was decades ago. Can you pick up a new trick or two along the path? Of course. But having the player character get orders of magnitude stronger as the game progresses makes very little narrative sense. Let me start the game maxed out, with my favorite weapons and armor. I don't even want them to level from there. Let me be a witcher, never feeling I need to go "get stronger" before I can face an opponent or region. After several playthroughs, I feel like I've earned that
But anyway, along with fixing the remaining bugs (the amount of graphical clipping in this game...), I really hope they blow out the graphics, go full RT, etc, etc. I hope it brings my high end rig to its knees, so it stays fresh for another decade. It's such a special game, and it deserves to be played for a long time to come.

For the new Witcher games it would be interesting to play as a novice, player created Witcher than as an established character. Possibly learning from Geralt or Ceri. That has serious potential.

I'm not sure about incorporating either Geralt or Ciri in that role (for different reasons), but I like the novice idea. I also think it would blend well into the current fan theory that the storyline might incorporate the fan fiction School of the Lynx (LINK ), which would give you Eskel and Lambert as mentors. So known quantities, but without super defined canon histories, so plenty of room to play around and flesh things out.

This makes no sense.
No single player game has ever been “enriched” by fricking multiplayer. In fact, 10/10 times it ruins games.
The only thing it enriches is their pocketbook through micro transactions.

Witcher 1 is getting a remake sometime down the road. Not sure if I’ll go back and play it again, but we’ll see. But for anyone who enjoyed TW3 but hasn’t read the books, TW1 is a great introduction to the lore: LINK

I went back and forced myself to play 1 & 2 during the 2020 shutdown. Janky combat but once I got used to it, I didn't have a problem with it. I specifically forced myself to play for the backstory.
Even though I am not in fan of most remakes ( looking at you Horizon) Witcher 1 would be a perfect game to update with some Quality of Life combat changes. They could sell a lot of copies of 1 & 2 if they update the graphics and combat.
And fix the tutorial in 2. I think a ton of people quit 2 before starting the game because they tried to beat the tutorial and the whole point was to play up to your skill so the game could select the appropriate difficulty. Dying simply meant you shouldn't be playing at the hardest difficulty.

Finally!!! I tried to play it but it was just to rough and janky.

1 can be rough, particularly with combat. I’ve said it a host of times, but: combat in TW1 is basically rhythm based. Think if it more of a dance than a fight. If your attacks are too early or too late, it will break your combo, which you don’t want, because each attack in the combo is stronger than the one before. Once you get used to it, it’s easy.
And then TW2 throws that entirely out the window and almost goes Souls-like with combat

That’s a great play on their part.
Story is already there and many recent fans never played TW1 and even many of those who did would be happy to pay to play a modern update.
I would think they can basically outsource something like that and tell them to color between the lines.
Wonder if they will bring back those cards I’ve heard about haha?

The romance cards? If they don’t, I feel like there might be a (very small) riot
