ive noticed that thing too. I wasted my chances though... i timed out all 5 of my chances running this thing.
i only made it through A.
good thing this was mentioned in here, btw. i would have never noticed the portal otherwise.

I tried B and made it through wave 3. Then the last remaining fighter never got in range of my bases to kill it so I lost when time ran out

I thought one of the B waves was going to get stuck on my walls, but they made it through and I killed all 5 waves for 7200 xp and 15 shards. I think most of the xp was wasted though because my Paladin just hit lvl 60.

i just made it through B with the "core" of my base (all my towers and heroes) intact. 8k xp 15k mana, 15 shards. But hell, a lvl 20 purple dinosaur came in and wrecked my shite up in B5. ill give C a shot once all my griffins respawn.

I just tried C. I made it through the first 4 waves, and I thought I was doing good on the 5th wave. I killed about a dozen troops and 4 lvl 61 heroes, but Barney was lvl 30 this time. Barney lvl 30 is no joke. He proceeded to take out my last hero, my 10 remaining buildings, my last batch of griffins, all while being pounded by my towers, and then he turned around and killed my towers. All. By. Himself. And he still had about 20% hp left.

I am having issues. I keep getting destroyed by people who seem to have better stuff than I do. I can't even make it a day anymore without being destroyed. Do I need to focus on my towers? More troops? What troops should I have?

i think it is a catch 22.
you need better all around stuff to defent your base, but as you upgrade your base, tougher enemier will attack you.

I have the same problem, and I think I know why. You fight people with similar might, right? Well, all of your heroes add to your might, but you can only really use 5. My lvl 64 druid has 388 might, but I have a lvl 1 paladin sitting there doing nothing adding 82 to my might (hell, I have a lvl 20 ice demon adding 180-something, too). I have 15 heroes right now of various levels, and I could probably drop 10 of them and drop my might from 8200 down to around 6500. Then I would match up a lot better in raids using the same 5 heroes.
A few minutes ago a guy took me out with just a TG and a druid, each lvl 100+. I don't even have a hero higher than lvl 65.

Also should I level up my spirit mage or Alticore thing. I think the Alticore dude kinda sucks because he's so slow. They are both at 60
