Not sure when those start to become available to you. Either they drop or they are introduced to you at a certain part of the game.

If you're commando just drop your turret. It should be on the ground anytime you need to burn through mobs.

i play with zero, i have no problem with everybody b/c i'm level 16 and the mission is level 13 but thsoe buzzard deals flying in the sky are hard to kill, i'm gonna try and get a corrosive weapon and see if it helps.

Picked up krieg. I keep waiting for him to turn into a badass melee character but it just hasn't happened yet.
Granted, I'm only level 13, but I don't think I've ever been downed so much on a borderlands run.

Interview on rev3 games with the developer said that this is the hardest character they've made to build... But once you figure it out you're a beast. As far as being downed so much... Most of his skills require you to be below 33 percent health to go into berserk mode so That's not shocking.

2-3 shots with a sniper rifle should take them out with crits

i got a corrosive weapon now and a couple hits takes them out, the teacup pistol destroys all machines, it's ridic

And I'm not an outlier. In lobbies full of psychos, one of us was getting dropped every 30 seconds or so.
I didn't mind as much once I unlocked light the fuse.
