Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, welcome you to Fallout 76, the online prequel where every surviving human is a real person
So it seems no NPCs.

Now I'm curious how you get quests.

You have option to play solo in the other games in this genre too. But usually its not all that good of a time. I think this is going to be a game that is at its best with a group of people. Solo play is possible but really its meant to be played as a group.

hopefully robots, computer terminals, message boards, environmental cues, ghouls

People will say the "real experience" is with a group, and maybe it will be more fun, but speaking for myself, I can just as much fun running around playing by myself if I had to. That's probably more about where I'm at in my life with a wife and kids: partying up gets harder and harder.

I guess it makes sense not to have some established NPC's hanging around handing out quests since you're supposed to be the first group of people out of the vault. But you still could use that system to some degree. Will be interesting to see.
BTW, what did everyone think about the new creature models? That in itself seems like a breath of fresh air. Will miss going up against super mutants and ghouls and the rest of the fallout regulars, but what they showed looked pretty interesting.
And I'm not sure if everyone saw this already or not, but Fallout Shelter, if that's your thing, is free on the PS Store. Maybe on the microsoft store as well.

the monsters were one of my favorite parts
seeing the lore books lying around and then finding those monsters will be fun
some "fallout purists" over on the sub were upset that "super humans didn't exist yet, the master hadn't created them with FEV at that time" but quickly got shot down due to Vault 87 on the east coast

also, the people who made NV are no longer at Obsidian. So people should stop getting their hopes up

And it's not like NV was THAT much of a departure from 3. Any reputable studio could take existing Bethesda assets and make a game similar. If you watched that documentary, they said their inolvement with NV was very small, other than giving them all the assets and having a meeting or two to talk about the "rules of Fallout", so to speak.

I liked everything I saw. And for them to tie creatures from WV lore is pretty awesome.

I have a dirty secret
I never played NV
might be time to finally do it.

I never did either. I was always more of a Sword and Shield RPG player then Guns.

Both nv and 3 as well as a bunch of other good games are on psnow. Free 7 day trial, $20 a month. Can play it on your PlayStation or on a computer

And the fallout games are perfect for a game streaming service. Anything that requires precision and timing, forget it.

Fallout requires more precision than say, Final Fantasy X.

I’m trying to decide if you’re being sarcastic or not....
I’ve had zero issues. And there is this super chill awesome vats feature you can use in combat you know.
