Wanting to get a solid gaming laptop for around $1,000 that can be used for school as well. Something that isn’t huge and clunky but can be moved easily to study with. I don’t really play any seriously demanding games on PC just Total War, Age of Empires and Crusader Kings. May branch out a little but want to be able to play these at a high graphics setting. Any of y’all have any recommendations?
I have looked at Dell G-series and some Asus laptops but there is just so many to choose from. Looking to be pushed in the right direction.

$800 gaming pc and a $200 laptop will get you better results than a $1000 laptop.

This would be a good option when it releases

Would be pretty easy and cheap to add 8gb more ram

I like, but would rather a Ryzen processor tbh. You think that i5 does the job well?

Another option, but wanting to minimize space and be able to game when I travel some.

i5 would do the job very well. The newest Ryzen mobile processors are supposed to be amazing too, but I don't know when they'll be released

Any gaming laptop which can play those games on high should be able to easily handle anything a school's normal curriculum would throw at it (ie: no CGI editing, VR, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc).

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I think what he means school wise is light weight and portable for taking to campus.

I think I have zeroed in on a $1350 ROG G14 Zephyrus or a Razer Blade 15 Base $1500.
I upped my budget a bit

I have a razer blade 15 silver edition with white keyboard. Only a year old. Like brand new. Got it last year don't use it. Paid close to 1700. Would let it go for 1300.
