streamer i watch just beat it in 18 hours. another 70 dollar under 20 hour game. just brutal.

That is brutal. I was excited for Relic First Guardian too and apparently it is dog water

How did he beat it that fast? I got like 7 or so hours into it and just got out of the first area and apparently there are 13 zones. Dude had to have been doing zero exploring. I got the game on game pass. It's a lot of fun. Not the best game I've ever played, but definitely worth a month on game pass for it.

Haven’t played it yet or watched anything about it other than I saw skill ups review titled he doesn’t recommend it?
Is their something wrong with the game?
Was just about to buy so if anyone would be kind enough to let me know if I shouldn’t I would appreciate it
Sekiro is my fave from game so I was hoping this was would be good and be somewhat flattering of an imitation

Extremely repetitive, very little enemy variety, mid story, and legitimately like a single song during most of the game played on a loop.
These are the most common critiques I have seen.

Hmm
Is the combat good at least?
Also don’t mind a shorter game if it is good. If the combat isn’t very good it sounds like a wait for the game to go on sell

It can be satisfying at times. I just beat the first main boss and it was fun to parry, dodge, and use the abilities but frustrating because it was an HP sponge and had two phases. From a combat perspective, what is frustrating to me is that you have to be nearly perfect because the heals you get are miserable.
Outside of combat, the cutscenes are super long and you can't fast forward through them. They really need to patch that....
It's a pretty game on my PC though and I can hit 120 FPS.
What area of Savannah are you in?

Thanks for the details. It looks pretty enough I’m going to give it a buy.
Me and my wife live in Pooler ATM we also have a mortgage for a townhouse on 37th street downtown I’m currently renting to my youngest sister and her friends who go to SCAD following in my wife’s footsteps
and paying the mortgage down with their rents

That is smart! I am east of you in the Isle of Hope area. Been here since 2017 though my wife is born and raised (went to UGA)

I’ll allow it
The sister I’m renting that place too is the only one of me and my two other siblings that didn’t go to UGA. She wants to do graphic design like my wife :smh:
ETA: I like it so far other than having to start over 25 minutes into the game when i learned it had English voice acting but it could only be changed from the main menu not in game

Honestly every part of this game is mediocre. The story with its weird pacing, the sociopathic main character, the combat, the skills, zones, just everything
. Nothing outright terrible and it’s just engaging enough to push through so far (I’m in ch.5) but imo every piece of it would have benefited from more time in the oven.
Go for it if you have gamepass already but I wouldn’t really recommend this otherwise.
This being a Game Freak game it’s very similar to their recent Pokémon games where you’re sitting there wishing they would have done just a little more.

Im really likeing it so far i have just been exploring the entire fisrt map getting all the collectibles and stuff. Im about to get the third thing from the talking golem guys the acid arrows then to the first boss.
It could really use a thing like in sekiro where they give you a practice dummy though imo

Given you like Sekiro best you should check this one out if you haven't played yet:
Echoes of Yi: Samsara
It is basically "We have Sekiro at home" but I enjoyed it.

I’ll check it out for sure. It’s only on steam, does it require super high specs? My gaming pc is pretty mid since I barely use it. My wife likes to watch most of the time so i use the ps5 pro.
Phantom blade zero is what I’m pumped for. And I’m so glad it’s not a souls like

Your PC should be able to handle it, pretty mid graphic wise. If you love Sekiro it is literally like a copy of it just not as good of course.
One interesting part of it is you can change the difficulty from 0 to +10 or -10. I found that a little frustrating as I didn't know which level the true challenge was

Bruh give me the roughest lol
I beat Sekiro doing the double run of death where you give Kuro his charm back (you only get this choice in NG+) right at the start meaning anything you don’t perfectly parry gives you chip damage to your health and this includes deflections that do damage their posture but weren’t perfect, while having the demon bell on.
It was fricking insane and almost drove me crazy but I got gud lol
As to beast I don’t see what it so wrong with it. I think I’m almost at the first boss and I have exhausted exploring the entire region before it.
I like it, even though it does a terrible job of tutorializing and explaining its surprisingly many systems. Maybe it will get repetitive idk.
As to Sekiro comps I can’t really make a call yet. Parry timing seems far more generous and you get a perfect dodge too

I truly don’t get the complaining the game is very very good imo on ps5 pro.
I couldn’t tear myself away and finished chapter 3
Hard mode is not a fricking joke either which I love. I did chapter 1 on normal and like most of chapter two then moved it to hard for the chapter 2 boss and kept it there.
You have far far less room for ever. The parry time is still more generous than Sekiro but you have way more to keep track of in this game at one time than in that one which is just a clever disguised rhythm game.
You need to be aware of when to parry when to perfect dodge, how and when to properly use you hack and slash combos, manage your dogs attacks, and more I don’t want to spoil stuff for people not where I am yet

Yup it is very difficult on Hard. It seems like normal enemies can be worse than the bosses even.
With boss fights you really have to learn the moves because it is a marathon to beat them and your healing is so limited... I just finished the second major boss.
I need to learn the combos and utilize the dog more because I am treating it too much like a Soulslike and just focusing on parrying and dodging.

The combat loop is basically perfect parry’s is what you always want to be aiming for because that is what charges the dogs FP for his moves, which each move can further then be modded for an additional minor effect like Slowing enemies in a AOE or curing you of a status element.
The game is more or less Sekiro style strategy but with a super forgiving perfect dodge for blinking red attacks to feed into you dogs attacks then when you fill your bars as much as you want for the combo you want to use let it rip. Rinse and repeat
I’m in the 4th zone now and I’ve got the loop down nearly as optimized as can be.
Focus on perfect parry’s to build you little meter at the bottom (expand that asap to at least 5 bars) and your dogs.
If you don’t neglect your dog I had him at level 10 maxed out companion in chapter 3 so he had 6 slots of the minor moves and then eventually filled out major moves from boss kills.
The trick is to know what you’re fighting and what they’re weak to. Golem as weak to Destructive so use one of his 3 starting moves Bloom should be used on them for instance.
This will break them and let you get into aerial combos. Also your starting move of r1 + square is super OP because you can pull your self into the air with the flower that spawns and either come down heavy with helm splitter (another move you should race to) or in the air if you open your bow or crossbow you get breath of the wild slow motion on the way down.
Also in chapter 3 you meet a guy who allows respecs after you save him as part of the main quests
If you need any help just ask. If you’re on hard I’ll just say now chapter 4 you’re going to need to be able to crank a ton of poison damage, there’s a monk on the map who will give you a poison sword for free so you don’t have to buy it from the merchant at the final boss camp

Thanks, I am in the mountain region now. I didn't even know you could upgrade the dog until last night lol
I'm enjoying it outside the cutscenes. One other part I don't like is having to face each boss twice. That is getting old
