Anyone have any old pinball machines or arcade games ?

Expanding the house by closing in carport to turn into a game room / mancave. Was considering dropping a chunk of change on one really good arcade game and one good pinball game. What were your favorites back in the day ?
So far I have the OG Gauntlet on my radar and Simpsons for the arcade game
Pinball I’m eyeballing Addams family , Funhouse, and Williams Slugfest baseball.
This stuff is WAY more costly than I thought but have been wanting to do this for a long time .
Any recs or tips appreciated.

You are probably better off getting some form of MAME machine, some Arcade1Up games, or a digital pinball machine.
Vintage games can be expensive as hell depending on what game it is.
Pinball games, especially in demand titles like Addams Family, are expensive as hell and have a lot of maintenance issues compared to video games because there are so many mechanical parts involved.
Honestly, an Arcade1UP Midway Legends machine is $300 and would have Gauntlet along with 11 other games.

Are these true to size though. That’s really my only concern.
Yeah the pinball classics I’ve been looking at are in the 4-10k range. I did have concerns about maintenance. I could suck up a hefty one time cost to bring in a serious piece of nostalgia/fun but wouldn’t want to deal with a money pit keeping it operational.

Arcade1up are 3/4 size but you can buy a 1’ stand to put them on that makes them closer to full size.
While full size is appealing, I have one full size game and whenever I have moved it has been a fricking beast to deal with. I got my kids some Arcade1Up games and they are a good size once they are on the stand.

Another possibility if you want a full size machine is an Arcade Legends machine.
I don’t know if any are available right now but they are typically released every year in the run-up to Christmas.
The on-board games are nice but the big selling point on them is the ability to import and play your own games on there.
They also make versions with different control panels so you can get one with a spinner to play Tron, a trackball for Centipede, or flipper attachments for video pinball.

I appreciate the info. Will certainly look into this. Can’t wait to finally have a legit man cave for first time.

Arcade1up is coming out with the Simpsons this fall.
An Addams Family could cost close to 8-10k. Not to mention the maintenance with pinball machines, I want one bad just can’t swing it atm.

I know very little about this except a friend says you can mod the cabinets with a Raspberry Pi and expand the games. If you're a computer DIYer, this sounds like a fun project.

I’m debating selling my NBA jam arcade1up machine. I downsized places and it’s too big for my room

They showed the Simpsons cab at a trade show but haven’t announced it yet with a cryptic message as to why.
The main question was whether one of the other games in the package, Simpsons Bowling, could be run on stock A1Up hardware.
The other question was whether they had secured all licenses from Fox (Disney) and Konami.

IGN simpsons
It has a trackball, so rumor is simpsons bowling is on it too. I figure the licensing is done considering they just had the XMen arcade up for preorder last week.

Pinball wise, my favs are Addams Family, Funhouse, Star Trek TNG, Star Wars, and Jurassic Park. Elvira gets an honorable mention too.

Chattanooga has a local place that sells old arcade cabinets, working and f**ked up called Chattanooga Pinball. I bought a wrecked full size NFL Blitz 2000 cabinet from them with just a working monitor and not much else on it. Didn't have a control panel at all. Put a computer in it and built a 4 player control panel. I redid all the art on it to be TMNT. It works pretty well.
I went all out on the control panel and put every damn control I could think of that could be fun. I don't recommend that if you got room for multiple cabs. I also don't recommend straight 6 button setups. My outside 3rd and 4th player are straight 4 buttons and my 1st and 2nd player are straight 7 button. I recommend going curved button setups, they just feel more natural to play.

Nice, I’d love to have a pinball machine. Just don’t have the room. Digital bullshite doesn’t do it for me, 90% of the neat factor for them is the mechanical aspect.

Awesome Clint ! Twilight zone is badass.
Appreciate the good info fellas. I think I’ll go arcade1 for my digital and just be prepared to grab my ankles on a legit classic pinball game.

Here's my cab that I posted here a few years ago. My basement is a wreck right now, lol. All the controls change color and light up based on the game playing.

Nice. I def pumped some quarters into tmnt growing up. One arcade game that really sticks out (not a huge classic like tmnt) was the old Killer Instinct. Felt like that game was so far ahead of its time.
