I will be on the road for work and have plenty of free time at nights. Thinking about jumping into a new MMO. Grew up playing WoW and GW2. Are there any MMOs out now that play similar to these? TIA

Graphics and combat are best of the best.

I put about 20 hours into the Beta and enjoyed it, hit I think level 21 or so, decked my character and horse out, was fun.

Having said that, still haven't bought it and it's only $29.99.

How far in the game did you get? This is a game that being level 20 could mean you spent 50 hours doing quests, or about 7-8 hours rushing the story.

Think I had about 25 hours or so.

I like questing, not crafting and grinding mobs.

I can't for the life of me understand why people like crafting in these games.

Truth. Still the best and most unique MMO I've played.

Not an MMO, but an rpg, but very, very good...

I don't quite get it either. I do like trading and building a network of nodes to expand my empire. But the gathering quests weren't fun.

Elder scrolls online is really good. They've made a lot of improvements since launch two years ago to the point where it won MMO of the year in 2015. I actually enjoy it better on PS4, probably because that's the way I've always played elder scrolls games. It feels fresh since there hasn't really been an MMO done to this extent on a console, but it's hard to describe why it seems to be so much fun that way. It just feels unique whereas on PC it feels like just another MMO, although it looks amazing from a graphical perspective.

A big part of why it works so well is the control scheme being so natural on a controller, since it's such an action-oriented game where you have to block, aim, dodge-roll, etc. It wouldn't work as well for tab-target cooldown rotation style games like WoW even if they simplified the UI. The Thieves' Guild patch was just released last week which included huge improvements to the dungeon finder system and optional floating damage/exp numbers for the console versions (significant quality of life upgrade) so it's a good time to start.

I put countless hours into CoH/CoV

Star Wars Galaxies still wins for me. CoH is close second.

Nothing ever will or has compared to CoH and it is gone forever.

CoH was the best GAME for the MMO genre. Deepest lore and best mechanics.

Yes SWG holds that place for me also simply because it was my first exposure to the genre.

Yes this game was terrible during the open beta and even WORSE at launch. Glad they stopped fckking up and starting to fix the game.

I've heard on a few podcasts it has improved. The open beta and first month of launch left such a bad taste that it is hard to give this game another try.

This, but I even played during closed beta so my experience was even worse. If they truly have fixed the pile of shite I played, it'd be worth looking into.

That being said, I'm hooked on Black Desert. This game is absolutely insane. The combat is a blast. It's like an MMO with fighter game combat. The input combos are so much fun.
