Some of the best storytelling going on right now in any medium, imo. My favorite game genre after being enthralled by playing What Remains of Edith Finch. My favs so far:

1. What Remains of Edith Finch
2. Firewatch
3. Visage
4. Don't Be Afraid
5. The Strange Story of Brian Fisher (incomplete game)

Still in various stages of play of LIfe is Strange, Botany Manor, Superliminal, Gone Home and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Couldn't get into Soma, Forbidden Forgiveness (WTF?), One Leaves (WTF?) and the Amnesia series.

I believe it's on PC Game Pass if you have it (I know it's on console Game Pass).

Just did a deep dive on that game after never having heard of it. From player reactions, it seems like simultaneously the best game and the most broken game ever created.

Which usually wind up being my favorite games.

I see it's available on GamePass currently. May have to check it out.

Have you played Killer Frequency? I finished it a couple of weeks ago and it reminded me a lot of Firewatch. You're a disc jockey in a small town and all of the 911 calls get routed to the radio station while a serial killer is on the loose. You have to help the people who call the radio station survive. It's very light horror and doesn't take itself very seriously.

Trailer / Steam

You also might enjoy Return of the Obra Dinn. You're an investigator trying to determine how each member of a ship crew died. The art style put me off initially, but you get used to it pretty quickly and I found piecing together what happened on the ship engrossing.

Trailer / Steam

I feel like both games would be fun to play this month given their themes and settings.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. It's good to see some names I recognize on here still posting. LSU football got me re-visiting the site for the first time in a couple of years and I thought I'd check out the gaming board on a lark.

I moved out of LA a few years ago in the middle of the pandemic because my job moved and I got out of the routine of visiting the site.

This looks right up my alley, thanks! I'm a huge horror game fan and that coupled with a walking sim is a bullseye for me! Just added to my wish list.

See what you mean about the art style. Reminds me of a few walking sim and point-and-click games I wasn't too fond of. May give it a try depending on my mood though.

My time on DayZ is my peak gaming experience. All the hours, memories and friends made along the way will never be recreated again…..unless we all decide to start playing again….but it’s wishful thinking at this point.

Truly the best times.

Obra Dinn is cool. Maybe watch a streamer play a bit to see if you will like it

Not many games like Finch. That had a fully developed intricate family story whereas most walking sims just give you nuggets of a story.

You may like HellBlade ....the fitst one anyway is one of my favs from last gen.it has more action than most walking Sims but it's pretty basic . WRoEF is one of my favorites of last gen too as is SOMA

I have wierd soft spot for Observer. It's not a great game but I love the atmosphere.

Play Road 96. It’s free if you have PSN premium.

Tried Hellblade 2. Played all the way to fighting the skeletons in the cavern then put it down. Felt like Dragon's Lair in that I wasn't really playing at all. Found it more of a slog than anything.

Yea I did not care for the second one at all. Most fans of the first were underwhelmed . With the exception of the visuals it felt like a step back in every way.

Started getting more in to Still Wakes the Deep.....and liking it a lot.
