Had looked at a few reviews, watched some gameplay and videos. I decided to go ahead and download my copy to my 3DS after I went to Gamestop and Wal-Mart here in Oxford and they were both completely sold out. Called another Gamestop in Batesville and they were sold out as well. Looks like a really solid game. Every review I've seen has given it a really high ranking (IGN gave it a 9.6).

Anyone else make this purchase?

I know it'll be a big hit, but Animal Crossing isn't for me.

This is, along with Harvest Moon, and Viva Pinata are a series of games I have never really gotten into, but plan to one day. Seems like they'd be fun to play with my kids when they are older.

(I hear they are all similar, but I'm speaking out of ignorance.)

Yes. I played the 1st AC to death and picked up WW on the DS. I skipped the Wii one because, well, AC doesn't change dramatically from game to game and I didn't see the need to pick up another one at the time.

Now, it has been quite a few years since I've played one and I felt like picking up a new one would be fresh even if it hadn't changed much. So far I've enjoyed it. It is still the same old Animal Crossing we've loved, but with some interesting new twists.

I went with the Digital Download so that I could always have it with me and not have to worry about swapping cartridges. AC is a great pick-up-and-play game, so it makes sense to download imo.

If you are a fan of AC, then you will enjoy New Leaf. The formula hasn't changed much, but it does offer some new things.
