2.0 Went live last night. Enjoy!

Awesome they released it early? Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, there was a system notification saying the servers were going down at 8:55pm EDT, last night. When I woke up this morning, news feed on phone was all about articles talking how they pulled the trigger early.

I played a little late last night. Will get back to it this afternoon or evening. Went to Harv's and took a Kappin' ride. Lots of cool stuff!

I was actually gonna play a bit last night and do some more prepping, thank God I didn't because I would've been up all night had I seen the update

The paid DLC still launches tomorrow, right?

It's supposed to - I think they released the update a day early because even though I had downloaded the update before, it forced another long download and install this morning when the update loaded. I imagine even though I've pre-downloaded the DLC, it's going to do the same thing to me tomorrow, and they didn't want to obliterate their servers and piss everyone off with two lengthy downloads back to back.

I got 17 Plumeria bushes on Kappin's island. When I brought them back to my island, they were not blooming. Obviously they are out of season. I wonder when they bloom. I don't want to keep them around if they aren't going to bloom till next summer or something. The glowing weeds and the vines you can climb are very cool!

Looks like the rest of the update is live. My daughter just walked in from work and turned it on and got taken right into the new stuff lol.

I haven't downloaded the DLC yet. I decided to play the regular game update for a few days first. Let us know how it is.

I have places on my island where I don't change the bushes out seasonally and these (compared to out of season pre-existing shrubs) were much more green, so I did put a couple in place just to get that pop of color. I'm assuming since that island was lush and tropical that's a Summer shrub. I stole as much off that island as I could!

Things I like so far in the free update:
1) You can put repeat DIYs in your house storage, finally
2) Isabelle will tell you if certain visitors are on your island, so there should be less guessing and hunting around for who has wandered behind a building or through trees or is on a weird part of the beach to know who is there that day.
3) There was a huge amount of stuff I could hurry up and buy with banked bells/nook miles, the DIY bottles on the beach seem to have a mix of new stuff with old stuff, and as you do things you seem to spontaneously think of recipes for cooking (I caught a sea bass and it spontaneously taught me how to make a Sea Bass Pie??)
4) There are some "walls" so it looks like you can make a village or a castle or something without having to fake use the backs of climbing walls
ETA 5) I somehow forgot the ladders and I don't know how except they were the very first thing I did, but I love them. I now have one going down to the secret beach and it makes me sooooooooooooooooo happy.
ETA2: The posters you get from Blathers for completed museum wings also make me happy.
Things I find frustrating:
1) You have to get the vegetable starters from Lief and he does not have them all at once. Not going to lie I straight cheated to go hunt them all down because that's stupid.
2) You can scootch between close furniture in the house but NOT OUTSIDE, so I can't shuffle my outdoor setups any closer together to take advantage of that.
3) The Beautiful ordinance makes it sound like it will reduce weeds but it does not seem to?? And it waters all the flowers so I wound up spending more time cleaning up my island than if I'd had no ordinance at all.
4) The pergola takes a huge footprint up, and while you can walk under it, it can't go over anything (so you can't put it over flowers or a table or something).
5) The vines can go against a wall where the top is blocked by an item but can't go against a wall where there's a flower at the bottom?
6) Not all of the fences can be customized, it seems like a very low percentage actually can

You can only do 1 island boat tour a day. The island I went too was plain and nothing special, so I wanted to go to another one but nope.

Yeah, this too for sure.
I also learned today that if a villager is cooking a recipe, you can't have someone from another island fly over to get it. The villager will stop cooking when anyone else is visiting your island, and then will go back to cooking when every visitor has left.

Unfortunately the only ones she is going to announce are the ones on Harv's Island. They will be on our island that day and not at Harv's. The ones that walk behind trees or lay on the beach will not be announced

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't know it watered flowers. I sure don't want to clean that up!

Again Thanks for the heads up. I didn't get it yet.

I agree it makes no sense
I love Kappin.
I had to rush when I was in the game this morning. I didn't have time to go into The Roost. It opened today. i will hit it up later today.
Love the new amount of storage and the storage shed. I haven't tried the house customization yet.
It rained on my island yesterday so I got 2 full grown Gyroids today - not fragments. Love the Gyroids. I hope/wish there is some way to keep track of ones you have and ones you still need to get.

In bouncing back and forth a few days trying to get the stupid wheat starter, I saw her announce Label, Lief, and she has a weird announcement about how you have to wake up anyone you find on the beach when either Gulliver or Gullivarr are there. I saw her announce CJ. I have not seen her announce Redd when he was here.
ETA: If there is a Campground Visitor, that announcement overwrites any other visitor announcement.
