That is probably true. I haven't read any more today.

I read somewhere yesterday that the Beautiful Island Ordinance keeps weeds off your island. Maybe it would get rid of them for you
I looked up what the town ordinances did in New Leaf and apparently it did a bunch of things there:
- Villagers more likely to water or plant flowers
- Time Traveling does not affect the town's environment
- Cockroaches will not appear at all
- Weeds will appear less often
- Hybrid flowers are 20% more likely to spawn
- Trash will no longer be fished out of the water
- Flowers don't die
Some of those aren't relevant due to the mechanics of New Horizons, so I wonder if they'll eliminate weeds entirely to help make up for that.

wow! That is a lot. Thanks for looking that up

Weeds are an essential crafting material for Medicine and other items.

Turning them off on your home island intentionally wouldn't stop you from having access to them on mystery islands though - I mean I'd also love it if trees wouldn't drop limbs every day because I have more wood than I ever could use and I can always shake a tree or go to a mystery island if I want more. I don't need that one weird piece of stone to materialize next to a rock, I can get stone in easier ways that don't clutter up everything. Anything that helps me eliminate mundane beautification tasks when I don't play every day would be well worth it.

I wish they did more bugs and fish, fishing is my favorite part of the game and I just don't have anything to do with it anymore.

I'm looking forward to the gyroids. I didn't play other versions of AC so I have never seen (or heard) them. Glad that Harv's Island is finally opening up too.

They could be fun in moderation but there are so many available that most people put too many out at once and it sounds like a room of cuckoo clocks going off at once, but constantly.

Thanks for the warning. I'll try to avoid that.

I'm seeing rumors on twitter (take THAT for what it is worth) that we are going to get fruits with the update too. They are suggesting lemon and banana trees.

The DLC is available for pre-order now. I am going to wait till next week and buy it after it comes out. You can't play it till then anyway. It is 598mb. It shouldn't take long to download.

I'm already having to clear out a lot of space for vegetables, now I have to reorganize my orchards (again) too?
I'm excited about the update and DLC but I'm not a 'tear everything up and start over' kind of person, these have been hard choices of what to get rid of, especially after I got used to it all being where it is for a year and a half.

We have the family expansion pass so I was able to pre-download both the update and the DLC. Didn't take long but I sure wanted it out of the way in advance, in case the Nintendo servers get clogged up with everyone trying to DL it in the first few days.

Good point!

I'm not either! I would wait on the orchards. That was a twitter rumor. Not sure if it is really going to happen.

So far I've identified that I have Too Many Flowers, and I've been working on that. Freed up space by moving/removing excess flower gardens to make room for new vegetables and still have pumpkin patches from last year so won't need room for those.
Mostly it's been trying to figure out what still Sparks Joy, and if I like it but it's missing something, spruce it up so it feels fresh and worth keeping. If I can't find a way to do that, it may be on the chopping block come Nov 5.

Sounds like a plan. We have to move a few flowers and a little sitting area to make room for the crops. They will be close to the pumpkins. I think we have enough room in the orchard if we need to plant more fruit trees but we will see. I'm not going to move anything yet till we see what exactly we are getting.
