Just realized my wife gave all of the villagers peach hats today. She laughed and said it looks like they are all walking around with vaginas on their heads. Must say I agree with the statement.

Great island! I replaced one of the cans that broke while watering and my daughter had me buy like 5 sandals for her in the shop

I do not play this game, but my daughter does (she's 9). Is it worth letting her explore other islands, I am completely ignorant to this game, so how does visiting and be visited work? Does it provide an added experience?

She has been playing for about 3 weeks.

So, at least for me, the island visiting mechanic has been mostly to help out friends and people on the board to get stuff they might not be able to get on their own. For example, you'll never get all of the different fruit trees because you're limited to what's on your island. Redd is an island visitor that rarely shows up on your island, and he's the only way to get "real" art for your museum, so visiting someone else's island when he's there helps you get more art.

The most common use for traveling, at this point, is for selling turnips. Once a week, a visitor will come to your island selling turnips. The sales price of turnips varies day to day, and sometimes you'll never get a good sales price so you can get stuck at a loss. We'll open up our island if we get a great sales price to help others make more money.

It's also pretty neat because this gives friends and family the opportunity to go to your island and see what you've done.

I'd say it's worth it for a kid to go check out other islands for sure. My niece and nephew visit their friend's islands all the time to exchange stuff and get new ideas for stuff they want to do on their island.

I have twin 8 year old daughters. They really only visit each other and my island. And they recently added one of their friends as well.

They don’t visit random people’s islands. But that’s not really possible (you need to type in a code).

But they do have a great grasp for their age of how selling turnips (the stalk/stock market) works. They record their AM and PM prices and we track them together.

She could certainly visit other folks islands with minimal to no supervision if she had ability to access them. You have to have online account though. And have to type in codes to travel to other players’ islands.

You can “buy” tickets to visit random islands (which is somewhat difficult to explain). But those are game generated islands and don’t involve visiting real people’s islands.

Sorry... I probably made this even more confusing.

Okay.

Do you have to purchase the 20 dollar membership to be able to visit games. I was content to keep her offline to be honest. Again, i'm not sure of all the mechanics of the switch's online world.

I think you need Nintendo's online service to visit other people, but I'm honestly not sure.

But yea, as mentioned above, you can't just visit random people's islands. They need to invite you and vice versa. So if you don't know anyone else with the game that's actively playing it, there's not much of a reason.

If she’s playing alone and you or family aren’t playing with her or helping her , then don’t. Just let her be alone on her island . She won’t be able to maximize her capabilities but she likely won’t know any better. Unless she’s talking to her friends.

The game is perfectly setup to play alone and isolated. She just won’t be able to access all the fruit trees for example (pears, apples, cherries, oranges, peaches). It won’t change her experience or appreciation of the game. It’s more so for completion purposes (I know that probably sounds silly for someone that doesn’t know the game).
