Traveled twice last night. No bamboo islands but did snag several giant water bugs, atlas moths and a few tarantulas. Thanks for the help. I see how it works now so I'll be ready for the bamboo island when I find one. Thanks again.

Pulled the trigger just now to get me something to do while waiting for FF7.

Any tips for a brand new player that sunk 200s of hours into Stardew Valley on 2 platforms?

I've just been rolling with it. I'm new to AC and never played Stardew Valley either. I decided that I am not going to do any time traveling. I'm just playing the game. I have read stuff about it on here or looked at people's screenshots on Reddit. One of the biggest things that has helped me was to get the list of bug and fish prices. I think someone posted it earlier. That way you can decide which bugs/fish to keep vs let go when your space is limited. Just enjoy the game at your own pace. I just keep talking to everyone Tom Nook and Blathers and my other villagers and any random people you see. Or I just grind out tasks for miles and catch bugs, cherry blossoms or fish. I'm doing more traveling now though. I also try to keep up with paying off my housing upgrades.

Check out ZackScottGames on YouTube. He has a 25 part series in progress of his playthrough. It's what convinced me to buy a switch, lol.

The thing that is starting to take my attention is the museum. I want to catch and donate as many fish to the aquarium as I can. It's so relaxing to go in that part of the museum and look at stuff. They did a great job with the music and the water physics

It took me a while to “get” this game. I was basically just playing 30 minutes a day (which is fine for a game like this) for the first 6-7 hours, and not *especially* enjoying it. I’ve put in more like 7-8 hours over the last 3 days. For whatever reason (for one, stuff starts getting unlocked), it just clicked. It’s definitely a slow starter.

I still don’t see how people have 150 plus hours by this point, but at least it’s looking slightly more understandable.

So far to me it's Nintendo's super polished version of Stardew Valley, and in all the best ways, with way more stuff

Just using SV as my frame of reference bc I put so much time into it

It is very slow the first 2-3 days. Once you get to the 4th day and past the first week, then stuff really starts opening up. Nintendo designed the game to start slow and slowly build up. If you don't time travel then this game will last you for years

Great hearing this, I kept going back and forth whether to get it or not knowing that FF7R is about to consume me but I needed something for a change of pace in this quarantine

I haven't bought a switch game in a while, glad it's going to last

I was worried about missing things behind time locked walls but it seems like that will work to this games favor

Can someone explain time travel a bit to me? I get the concept and changing system clock.

But how does it work with saves? If I start a build and jump a few days to when it's finished, and save, then set the the clock back to normal, what is the fallout?

Nothing bad happens. If you jump ahead to unlock something then jump back you keep what you unlocked.

The only bad thing I've had happen from time travel is the turnips I had rotted and couldn't be sold.

Otherwise it's great for speeding the game up if you're impatient. I've used it to upgrade my museum faster and upgrade Nooks shop to the bigger level. Today is the first day Nooks opened the bigger shop and there was a 50 inch flat screen for sale.

I agree with you about the museum as well, especially now that I'm completing exhibits.

Great, that was biggest question, do you keep the progress of stuff even though you are setting the clock back to before you built it.

Not going to use it at first but I suspect I will

It strikes me as a good second game (not that it has to be played like that, but it works well in that way). Especially if you have a good bit of free time. You can play something like FF7 and then drop in to this game for 30 minutes or an hour a day.

See that bonfire up top? AC Saban about to beat the shite out of you with a net up there.

Side note, I'm finally satisfied with how the map in our town is set up. The one lone animal house will be moved tomorrow and there will be a river between everyone and the characters.

I had never played an AC game but I've always seen the hype around it.

I watched gameplay and still didn't see the appeal.

Decided to give it a shot anyway a few nights ago.

Now I am struggling to work because I want to play
