Go to the store page on steam, request access and it shows up in your games list to install. I'm going to give it a go.

played a little, not overly impressed. buildings look good but feels like a step back for units and graphics overall remind me of aoe 3

Yep I was invited to the closed beta and was not very impressed at all. It's just too cartoony for me. They really needed to make this look more like AOE2 rather than AOE3. I'll still buy - just cause I'm an Age of Empires addict but I don't see myself playing that much if they keep everything as is.
On a related note - did anyone check out that Red Bull Wololo tournament that happened last week for Aoe 2? $100k LAN tournament in a German castle. Was truly the best gaming tournament I've ever seen.

I am up to the Battle of Bremule and have only had one crash. So far I like it and how the use the actual history. I am just starting to be able to use stone walls and keeps with some good defensive additions.

I used to love this franchise. Haven’t played in nearly a decade. Just got a brand new computer and stumbled upon this thread. If I’m gonna get one computer game it’s this one.

Mine says 2mb ram and it needs 4mb so I deleted a bunch of shite and it still doesn’t work

So I just redownloaded the game and it works now

I'm fine with the graphics. Certainly not mind blowing but I feel like I am playing AoE and not a completely different game. Command and Conquer did that to me

Yeah I played an hour and refunded on steam.
Just feels like an early 2000 game, does nothing special, units aren’t overly specialized or abundant with each faction. Feel like the developers just recanned an old AOE a new payday. Stopped to double check if this was a rerelease at one point

This thread bums me out, I was looking forward to another AoE. AoE3 was disappointing but playable. I may just skip this and go to some throwback AoE2.

I’ve been playing a ton of AoE II:DE lately, and nothing I’ve seen out of AoE IV has really been tempting. I’m sure I’ll buy it on sale one day, but, like, sub $20 on sale.
