All Hail, King of the Losers.
Always loved that taunt as I'm slowly destroying my enemy into an oblivion.

Army of elephants like that was pretty much unstoppable. We'd do situations like that and even with two people vs someone with the Persians it's near impossible to win unless you're extremely strategic about it
Saracens with Mameluke's or Go Goth with the INSANELY CHEAP and FAST PRODUCING barracks units (halbs). Persians were over feared and easily countered by units that cost a tenth of what the elephants themselves cost.

Longbowmen were sweet..
Goths were awesome, but only in like the first 5 mins. No long term viability, only good if you're trying just bumrush someone out of a game

Then you weren't using them right ;)
Longbowmen were the shite.
In DM games, I was always a fan of playing Korea/Mongols/Celts and massing scorpions and onagers. If you could micro decently, you were pretty formidable.

Me and four other friends would all bring our computers to one persons house and have huge arse battles.
Next to all night Super Smash Brothers marathons, and filming Hollis, this is one of my fondest memories from Childhood.

Koreans were my personal favorite. Those ships, scorpions, and battle wagons kicked arse.
I also had to question how dumb people were that got the Mayans or Aztecs. The Jaguar Warriors or the Plumed Archers weren't that good. Huns, while lack of houses was nice, sucked as well because you couldn't build a god damn wall. Thats an even bigger weakness than not having calvary.

Anybody else play any of the "Blood" scenario games, like "Germ Blood" and "Castle Blood"? Those kicked arse and were fun quick games.

Forgot all about Archer Blood. That kicked arse as well, but I don't think it was quite as good as Castle and Germ Blood.
Did yall play "The Lord of the Rings" map? If you got Isengard, you were completely fricked, you weren't that much more powerful than the others, and when Rohan, Gondor, Rivendell, and the Shire just come to take you down at once, you didn't stand a chance.

Eagle Warriors. Not countered by halbs and they even had a slight bonus vs cavalry. Not to mention, infantry had a bonus against buildings.
There were some other perks to them, but I'm too lazy to look them up.

Used to play this game with a six pack of cream soda and a pack of slim jims. The cheats were awesome too, especially 'howdoiturnthison' which would give you a corvette with dual machine guns.

The trebuchets were badass, and I loved having a bunch of blacksmiths making cannons and battering rams.

I loved trebs. I remember people playing turks who would just leap frog towers all over the map with the mobile cannons you are talking about....you would be kicked if you tried to use them.
