Because I haven’t played one in oh about 25 years, and I want to introduce my daughter to the magic of Goldeneye Slappers Only.
Outside of Shadows of the Empire, what else should I pick up?

WCW vs. NWO Revenge. GOAT wrestling game
Pokemon Snap. Loved that as a kid
Paper Mario. Probably the best RPG oon the 64
Conker's Bad Fur Day. Extremely fun but want to put the daughter to bed before that
Star Fox 64
Bomberman 64
Mario 64
Mario Golf
NFL Blitz
Super Smash
Yoshi's Story
I would say the Mario Party games but IIRC, they've turned into collector's items and some can be pretty pricey
Didn't the rom sites get wiped out?

If you have a laptop, hdmi cable, controllers, and a tv, you can play pretty much every N64 game for free.

Just to note, it's very difficult to find an original hardware N64 controller with a good, functional analog stick.
The N64 controller analog stick was not designed particularly well and used too much plastic and they usually detiorarted pretty badly over time through normal use.
They tend to get very loose and have big dead zones. Luckily they can be DYI repaired/restored pretty easy, but you do have to take the controller apart to do so.
Otherwise just try to buy one in good condition to start.

- n64 roms (i used emuparadise.me)
- use any controller with a usb port (Ps4 controller takes a bit of settings tweaking, but it's easy.)
I haven't played or looked into emulators in a long time so I don't know if there's a better program out there nowadays.

WAYNE GRETZKY’S 3D HOCKEY!!!!
Throw the gloves down and fight your daughter baw. Tap both buttons to pick her up and double punch to the face, drop her with the uppercut for sure.
To start the fight, you have to just keep jacking her up while skating around with I believe left yellow arrow. Catch her good and make her do some backflips.
Charge up your shot and smash her goalie through the back of the net and send them both flying into the boards.

It's not the same.
I've been playing my real deal N64 the last few weeks.
Nothing like it.
I beat Ocarina of Time and got 120 star in Super Mario 64. Gonna start Majora's Mask tonight.

And sites for ROMs still out there, I could also help by putting some on a Google Drive for DL

This. I still have my N64, but getting and fixing controllers was such a big pain in the arse I just use emulators.

Mario Kart 64.. Has to be the best multiplayer 64 game out there other than Goldeneye. Man I sunk some hours into those game with my childhood friends.

Shadows of the Empire
That game was my first.
Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie were amazing platformers
Donkey Kong 64 was a hard arse platformer (some of the mini games are just brutal)
Kirby 64
Perfect Dark
Harvest Moon 64 was the #1 game on the list, but Stardew Valley finally lived up to something none of the sequels ever lived up to.

Another note. N64 usually looks like arse on most modern tvs. You can and should set the resolution of the tv to 4:3 but the graphics will be kinda pixelated (especially noticable on text). You do get used to it though,.
If you want it to look exactly how it's supposed to you'll have to get a hold of a CRT tv assuming you don't have one already. There are also various external doodads people have created that can help upscale the N64 output so it looks better on modern displays.

Sorry gotta agree with the other individual.
Emulation is great if you want to quickly and easily play old games you used to love and also if you wanna play games you are curious about whether you'll even like or not. I use emulators, I think every classic gaming fan on the planet uses emulators to varying degrees.
However there is something strangely better and more satisfying about playing the original cart on an original system with an original controller. It's one of those things that logically seems like it shouldn't matter but somehow does a lot.
I think it's proportional to the love/reverence you have for the old system. Like if you just wanna read an old comic book then downloading a PDF works fine. If you truly love and celebrate them, a PDF isn't the same thing as owning a physical copy of it.
