Anyone here that played it? Also, did you play it during its prime before SOE went full retard?

This game has definitely come back to my attention since a decent number of emulator servers are up and running with solid populations apparently. I.e. it's playable again in its prime version.

He is just jealous he didn't get to experience SWG in it's purest form. I played from basically day one until JTL, great game and I have been following the emulator servers. They should be getting close to the full experience.

I'm pretty certain I was not in from day one, but I have fond memories of pre-CU and even CU to a lesser extent. NGE was awful though. I plan on ordering the game since our old discs are MIA and getting into the emulators God willing It sounds like they're coming along greatly.

I really do not understand why no North American MMO has attempted to copy/improve the sandbox MMO. I mean the player economy was pretty great.

It failed after they destroyed it, it was doing alright even with WOW entering the market.

This. Funny thing in a way is that I'm 21. Do the math and that means I was extremely young when I played. No MMO has compared to SWG and that includes WoW, GW1 & 2, and ToR all of which I played extensively. SWG had a great thing going before the NGE. Particularly pre-CU. Mind-boggling that they screwed it up.

I think many of them get caught up in the idea that SWG bombed, but they forget that it bombed after the NGE although it was a huge success prior.

I still play on the SWGEMU server. It's a blast and the game is definitely at a playable state.

There has never been a game before or since that came close to approaching the resource gathering and crafting in SWG.

They try, but most sandbox MMORPGs are influenced by Ultima Online rather than SWG, meaning they have open-world PVP.

I don't think pre-NGE SWG was as good as most people remember, especially towards the end of it's life when it was just one big grind to become a jedi.

Anyone play CoH/CoV? City of Heroes/Villians.

It was my SWG after the NGE.

SWG was easily the best MMO I have ever played. And I have played them all.

The morons at Sony destroyed it, then claimed it was a "failure".

That's great to hear! What does the population look like on there?

On a side bar, are Jedi implemented on that server?
