Was it worth it?

No way I even think about purchasing this now that I have seen it can be finished in 7 hours or 12 max.

Nope. Glad they were able to complete such a massive game in 12 years.

The replay factor is much higher but I feel you about the main quest

/concur for solo players like me.

For the multi-players and the cash farmers it will be a good investment I think.

You still need a deeper longer game for real replayability.

No matter how you slice it, this is a bit of a disappointment.

Not like the countered the minimal main campaign with insanely awesome graphics.

Normal is supposed to be easy.

The challenge comes on hell/inferno, and acquiring the best gear

But indeed, if you are looking for a long singleplayer game, d3 isn't for you

If you sat there and played it without trying to level up with a party of people, yeah maybe, but there's no way a single person just blows through it in 7-12 hrs.

I'm not big on repeating stuff, it's why I don't play WoW anymore. I am glad for the people that love it but it's just not for me. I want a longer single player experience.

Yeah... The area/acts/story remains the same, but, mobs have increased hp, dmg, and loads more special abilities as you increase diff.

and of course they drop better gear along the way

Having a hardcore char on hell level difficulty isn't for everyone.

To each their own.

It's about a bunch of guys in their mid 40's going through significant midlife crises

If finishing the game in normal difficulty counts as "finishing" it, then I finished the game today.

The fun in the game comes through PvP and the harder difficulties that require teamwork. Also, the RMAH should be interesting, I am already trying to make higher grade gems. There are 14 versions of each gem in Diablo 3. 14! There were only 5 in Diablo 2.

Almost every game that has come out in the last few years has been catered more for multiplayer content rather than singleplayer content. Game developers know they can get away with less content and more replay-ability with multiplayer games than taking the time to create single player games with great story lines.

Even the main story line for Skyrim wasn't super long. It's the side quests and other things that make the game so time consuming. If you played just for the story line, you would be done within a week.

ETA for a typo.

The side things kept me busy for 230+ hours, but I see what you are saying.

A friend of mine made the mistake of going through the main story line first. He planned on going back and doing the side stuff afterwards. Big mistake. He didn't have the heart to go back and try to gain the respect of the different groups after saving the world.

Congrats, you beat it on Easy mode. The first playthrough is to get yourself acclimated with the game and what you need for progression. If you're a Diablo player, this is nothing new.

Yeah, I plan on beating D3 on Normal on only one character and never playing it again.

There are 5 classes.

There are 4 difficulties

There is normal and hardcore mode

It is almost impossible to ever build a completely perfect character.

I would never recommend D3 to anyone that plans on playing on normal 1 time and calling it quits. That isn't what the spirit of the game is

And btw... you can easily spend 5 or 6 hours on act 1 alone if you explore everything. People rush the game
