Only saving grace for shitty IPAs is that they are typically half the price of shitty sours.

yeah but a shitty IPA, at worst, is either going to be really malty or have a really bad lingering bitterness, no? which is bearable to an extent

a bad sour tastes like cough syrup

Hops would probably win, but I don't know about a landslide.

If you peruse the online trade forums, you'll see the stuff people really go stupid crazy over is the sours. Not sure what that says about their overall popularity. But the people who like them, which is a large portion of the intense beer geeks, really really like them.

If the worst sour you've had tasted like cough syrup consider yourself lucky.

maybe that is why I love sours because I haven't had a truly bad one yet

which is mainly because they are so damn expensive I usually do a lot of research on them before I buy them

Which is a small portion of craft beer drinkers imo.

Hops would win in a landslide imo as well.

I haven't found the regular one too hard to get it, but those BA cakes were insta-whales. I've seen some ridiculous offers for those.

Well, broadly speaking, most "craft beer drinkers" probably haven't even had a sour before.

I know, but it wouldn't make sense to poll those people if we're trying to assess preference for the two styles.

I'm with you...I hate standing in line for beer(or anything for that matter). I've canceled on Specs releases with Rouge at least 3-4 times.

I love sours, especially Cantillon, but it's still not worth it to me.

yeah, easy enough to find, but it does seem like EVERYONE on reddit is ISO mexican cake these days.

The BA siberian black magic panther was pretty easy to get too, but that BA cake is ridiculous.

now that i think about it, i did finish the whole thing by myself while putting up christmas lights and almost fall off the ladder a couple of times. so it was somewhat of a positive experience.
