You probably weren't around when Coors finally made its way out of CO, or when Corona was hitting the shelve for the first time.
The demand and frenzy was amazing. This is the same sort of phenomena. Has nothing to do with people thinking they are above something.

Can tell we are the same age. When I was at LSU I would mule Sliver Bullets back from Houston and make some really good trades. Didn't know to do the BXN behind dumpsters and in front seats of cars in the Alex Box parking lot-we've come a long ways.

It was a frenzy. People want what they can't get.
I knew a guy that was getting as much as $20/six pack in the early 80's for Genesee Cream Ale. He was from Ohio and would get the money up front and bring it back to BR after holidays.

i don't understand why this has to be such a black and white thing. there are certain days/times/situations that may call for an easy to drink, get you drunk, cheap beer, and there are other situations that call for better, craft beers.

This is where you're losing people, IMO. It just doesn't taste that good. If it doesn't taste good, it's not really "easy to drink."
I'm not hating on people that drink Yuengling, I'm really apathetic towards it, but I will laugh at the guy (or girl, I don't discriminate) that drinks Yuengling because they think it's "fancy" or "craft" just because it isn't Bud/Miller/Coors. But if you drink it without pretense, great.

I will drink Yuengling cause I think it is slightly better than BMC for either the same price or a little cheaper. Also helps that they are an American Owned Brewery.

I tasted it. I enjoyed it. Therefore, I shall drink it. That's the only necessary rationale. Are there better beers? Without a doubt. The thing about craft beer drinks is that a lot aren't very loyal to one beer. It's always about the newest beer.

Partly true I think. To me it's partly beer drinking and partly a hobby to sample new ones and compare and have good conversation.
With that said, there are a few I gravitate back to like Sweetwater, Red Brick and Terrapin.
I'd say Envie and Ghost are like that for Louisiana people.

And the oldest brewery in the country. It's not a fad beer. It's been a regular on the shelves and taps in the east and north east forever. It's just new to your area. I don't drink it because of price or because I think its better than the other big boys, i drink it because i like the taste (both regular and Black and Tan versions). Taste is subjective so yeah some people will think its swill and others will put it in their top 10.

i don't get why it matters so much to some people on this board what other people drink or why they drink it. not everyone has the money to shell out $10 on a 6 pack multiple times a week, so they go with the $6 pack of Yuengling to cut costs and get the same buzz. if people want to pretend they are drinking craft because it isn't BMC, then so be it. this is America

I'll drink Envie and commotion all day out on a boat or beach. The only argument against that is price.. Parish beers surely aren't cheap.
Yeungling tastes like what it is - an American adjunct lager. I just don't understand the hype it has.
