Bought a 36” Blackstone the Sunday before Memorial Day and I am loving this. Memorial Day was full of Veggies, Burgers, Sausage and Fries.
Spent the week making Omelets in the morning, grilled sandwiches for lunch
This morning busted out some smashed cinnamon rolls
Today I channeled my inner Hibachi Chief.
5 cups of Jasmine Rice, 3 Zucchini, 3 Vidalia Onions, Shitake and Bella Mushrooms , 2 lbs of shrimp, and 4 Fillets, Lots of Soy Sauce. Garlic Butter, Sesame Oil.
I’ve never been much of a cook other than some grilling and smoking on my egg but damn with this thing and some YouTube videos I feel like I can take on a lot. Never had this much fun cooking before.

No onion volcano No care.
But seriously, I see everyone posting about their Blackstones and it really makes me want one.

I underestimated the need for the onion volcano

That fried rice looks like a bitch to clean up though

Not at all. Get it off the grill and any leftovers you spray water then scrape to the back push it through the little hole in the back. There’s a metal collector you put an aluminum foil liner in and it’s removable and dumped into the trash

What’s a good price for the 36” and where?

$399 at Lowe’s
LINK
$299 at Walmart
LINK
The Walmart model doesn’t have a hinged hood just has a removable one. Walmart has better side carts. I have the Lowe’s version but I’m bummed that my first cook my magnet strip to set my spatulas on peeled off (and I took a spatula to the foot). Walmart one is also missing the front storage which is pretty nice.
You’ll probably spend another $125 on tools and accessories

I'm currently building an outdoor kitchen with one of these built it. Hopefully they will be finished this weekend and I can start using it.

Nice. You doing anything fancy for food collection and easy clean up in the back?

Nothing too fancy, the Blackstone is the far end of the kitchen, so it's going to have a lower granite countertop around the right side and back to allow for heat venting and grease collection.

Do you find you're able to get it hot enough for a harder sear? That has been the one thing that has kept me on the fence. A lot of times when I see food photos from these, the food doesn't look to have enough browning. (Not critiquing your cooking.. I just like a good sear on my meat/seafood and am concerned these don't get hot enough)
EDIT - Upon Googling and finding a forum discussing this, it seems they do get very hot. So that's good. Looks like a lot of people just load the griddle up, which will prevent searing. That's an easy fix.

I had asked that question in a previous thread and a poster did and IR thermometer on it showing close to 500.

Looks like you need some seasoning on those vegetables.

Like I was saying, the right side and back side will have a lower granite countertop when it's all done, so the heat can vent easier and the grease trap will be accessible.
It will all be wrapped in stone when complete as well, hopefully this week.
And yes my back yard is a disaster thanks to all the construction. I can't wait for it to be done and to get it all back together.

Damn. How many people live at your house? That is a lot of food.

Is there a flavor advantage to cooking things like eggs and cinnamon rolls on this thing or is it just the novelty of cooking outside that is appealing?

Sunday funday. Had 7 adults and two kids eat on it. Had a good bit of rice left over but everything else was devoured.

I enjoy cooking outside and not dirtying all kind of shite in my kitchen. I think the griddle gives a good flavor and some bite to the food . Cinnamon rolls were definitely elevated from just throwing them in the oven. I could have eaten all eight of those by myself .
Basically what I tell people is it can do anything a grill can do and can do so much more that a grill can’t .

looks like they have really up their quality. mine is great but really kinda "cheap". It was fantastic when we were buying them for super cheap. This guys grill look way nicer than mine.
They are worth it if you have the space for it.
