Just off the top of my head:

Portland, Maine
Asheville, North Carolina
Burlington, Vermont
Providence, Rhode Island
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Charleston, South Carolina
Annapolis, Maryland
Boulder, Colorado
Ann Arbor, Michigan
Somerville, Massachusetts
Birmingham, Alabama (debatable, but having the #1 rated restaurant in the country gives them an argument)

This is only a list of the places I have been to, as well. I'd imagine there's more out there.

Most every city up the Eastern Seaboard roughly the size of BR (or hell, even over 150,000 or so people) will have equal or better food scenes than BR. Midwest and West probably not, but some places around the great lakes (college towns like Madison and Ann Arbor) and areas of California would eclipse its scene.

Again, I'd likely put its scene about midrange nationwide, among cities its size.

Some of these are ridiculous

They simply dont have a gluttony of chains, but in no way does BR not offer the same culinary experiences as some you listed

You simply listed nice quaint towns with some good restaurants that dont have the trash and chains of BR

Well you've been to all of them and eaten there, so I'm sure you're not speculating at all.

You asked for a list, you were given a list. Feel free to disagree with it all you want, but in my personal experience I've eaten better in these cities than in BR.

I have been to multiple on your list (all of the college towns you listed)

Listing some of those above BR is just laughable

Are they nicer towns? Absolutely

Two are basically Boston, so those are sort of BS in my mind, to include.

Well they are each their own cities with independent municipal governments, and they were both on the approved list that I was given to work with, so BS in your mind or not, they count.

I'm from BR, grew up there, and the restaurant scene is absolutely heads and tails above what it was 5 to 10 years ago.

It's leaps and bounds better than it was in the 90s. It used to absolutely deserve the chain restaurant reputation.

And everyone is avoiding the question? I haven't been to alot of BR restaurants, don't live there but come through about 2 times a year
The worst experience I've had was at Ralph and Coco's or whatever it is. The food came out cold, bland and almost inedible. Thought of sending it back, but I'm not pretentious or just too nice. Haven't been back and won't go back

Sadaf's Cafe. They served me bad chicken one time and I will never go there again. That terrible stench is seared into my brain.

I'll nominate Sammy's in Central, Las Palmas next door in second place. I'd rather eat at Burger King.
