I'd participate in some sort of Mexican challenge.

And my record speaks for itself. The only time I chose to compete I lost because someone didn't understand that you had to cut the lamb off the rib to make a proper pita sandwich.

I'd understand LL not wanting to do Mexican in order to not have me compete.

If the people want Mexican, let there be Mexican.

What about we take September through the new year to make our dish, I’ll run the submission week in early January, and then we can regroup about how to proceed from there. I like the 3 months idea.

Work for y’all?

Plenty of opportunities between now and then. Casual Mexican fiesta gatherings could happen.. beer gatherings could happen.. Halloween..

IMHO the most fun challenges were the ones where we were given four or five ingredients that were incorporated into your entry. Those were very creative until everyone just rolled everything in rice and called it sushi.

Already did Mexican for the ground meat challenge but I’ll definitely do it again

I’m game for whatever type of schedule y'all want to do

Every two months, pick a type of food, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican, etc

Cook it within that 2 months so nothing needs to be done last minute.

That is my suggestion.

I like the idea of doing it less, but still doing it. Every 3 months works for me.

I like themed challenges like Mexican, but I also like the idea of narrowing it down so it’s not so vague. You may have someone doing a whole Mexican spread (chips, dip, appetizer, entree, churro, etc) and someone doing one entree. I’d prefer something like “Mexican entree” or “Mexican fiesta” where you know what you’re supposed to be competing against. Both work, I just think we need to clarify which.

The reason I like participating is to create something new and different for fun.

Agree. I’m fine with both, but I like picking a specific ingredient or food item.

An ingredient is where you get to be creative. A “theme” requires you to adhere to the theme. Both have their place.
