The Rouses on E. Causeway Approach always has half rotten produce on the shelves. Also the beef at Rouse's is a joke.

Yeah although that store is "fancier" the one off Hwy 22 by the sanctuary is a wayyy better store and much less crowded

Where is there a Winn Dixie on the coast?

One right down the street from us in Niceville. We use it all the time.

The problem with the W/D isn't the stores.

The pricing model is just not good. Yes, their sales prices (with the card) can be decent, sometimes. Other times, their card sales prices are the same as other places regular prices.

But W/D's regular prices are obscene. It makes no sense for me to buy a bunch of on-sale items, if I'm going to lose all those savings to the other non-sale items I have to buy. I might as well just go to the stores that are closer to me. And I don't have time to shop at two different stores.

If the one by me started doing curbside pickup, it might be worth it for me to hit up only their sales. Maybe.

W/D can't compete on low prices, and their service level isn't much better than WalMart. That's not a winning formula, and spending a bunch of borrowed money renovating their stores isn't going to fix that.

Even if, somehow, they fixed their issues, including their staffing and price issues, they still have the stigma attached to them. They would need to fix all that, AND rebrand, to catch on, I think.

They will never beat WalMart at their own game. The sooner they admit that and change the sooner they prevent becoming Sears or MonkeyWards.

I really liked shopping at Winn Dixie, but they offer a subpar product overall. Reminded me of shopping at an AG store in the 90s. Times have changed, people want shishito peppers and organic coconut water.

As a kid, I remember pretty much all of our grocery shopping being either at Schwegmann's, Sav A Center, or Winn Dixie. Two of those are gone and the third seems to be on that path.

What? Have you shopped at Publix? What are you comparing it to? You can't compare it to Walmart.

I've always thought of it like:
Walmart< Winn Dixie < Publix < Whole Foods (specialty stores)

I'll be honest I shop much less now, by wife does Walmart pick up for 90% of our stuff and then usually goes to Publix in store for a handful of stuff. So I'm usually in the grocery store just for beer, meat, or a random weekend bbq or something.
