Looking to give this as a Christmas gift this year. Anyone have any experience with this? What is a good company to go with?

In my opinion the best option is to use a local fine wine store. You probably get better stuff than the big subscriptions and they'll get to know folks at the shop.
I don't use one but SommSelect comes up a fair amount when I'm researching bottles I like. It's pretty expensive though so not sure if that's what you're looking for.
I have some friends who have pretty decent taste in wine and they like Winc for everyday drinking
