Pretty sure this is not a chain. I thought the OP was asking about the chain type places where they come around and feed you as much meat as you want.

None of those places are that good in comparison to the ones that I had mentioned besides Mansuers, imo. Jubans has really gone downhill. I have lived here for 30 years and tried all of those places extensively (besides Soji and Rocca). Elsie's is just not that good when I went a few months ago for the first time. Superior Highland is so overpriced and not even that good. Sorry to sound so negative just most of those places are decent at best, imo anyway.

You have Parrains on your list but chimes is decent at best. It's the same owners, same food, minus a few items here or there

La Lagniappe isn't that good

Parrains is prob my favorite seafood spot in BR and a much diff menu than Chimes. The BBQ drum is my fave piece of fish to get no doubt.

I can see where some of the items are very similar though, like the red beans and pork chops.

That's just off the top of your head.. Add the Chinese places, the Middle Eastern places, the Indian restaurants.. the markets that sell prepared foods.. you can double your list.

The reality is that Baton Rouge has more casual restaurants. More people with families here that take the kids out to eat, more college students on budgets.. Regrettably there are fewer high end restaurants but there's no question that Baton Rouge is extremely flush with good places to eat out, that are not chains, as much as that may disappoint some.

Word.

To say there are only 4 to 5 places that are above decent at best is absurd.

It's the Tom Fitzmorris wanna-be's that say that.

of course there are, many of the very good.
there are also dozens upon dozens of every shitty chain imaginable, which is what this thread is about.

No, it's not. The question is, why can't there be more Brazilian Barbeque chains in Baton Rouge? And the answer is that one restaurant of this type more than saturates the market.

I wouldn’t say more than saturates this market. Maybe adequately fits the need.

The BR chain restaurant reputation goes back to the 80s and was largely well deserved. That's no longer the case at all though.
