Service is always on point. I was curious what actual dishes did y'all order that were overrated?

How can a restaurant that began in New Orleans and serves food of south Louisiana be West Villagey?

First of all the size alone takez it out of the running

12oz filet (must have been aged in Cad's refrigerator for 40 days)

Trout (meh)

Pork Tenderloin (winner)

Fried chicken breast in marinara sauce (cant remember the name of the dish - (meh)

It's trendy, it's high end, it's ethnic, it's creative, it's modern, and authentic.. Not sure if you know, but New Yorkers, particularly West Village types do enjoy Louisiana food.

Your comment is the silliest post in this thread, fyi.

Cochon de lait is high end? Cracklins are modern? Gumbo trendy?
Maybe its ethnic depending on ones definition of that loaded word.

Its perhaps a reawakening of what Paul Prudhomme kicked off 30 years ago.

Maybe not to you, and Lafayette, which is why Cochon Lafayette failed. But for a hip, downtown New York crowd situated around Chelsea Market, I can see it happening.

I can also see a Cochon Butcher doing exceptionally well in the Financial District.

I will agree that Cochon would do well in NYC but i dont think that will happen.

It didnt survive in Lafayette because Lafayette isnt a restaurant town, its a great food town. But thay doesnt always translate into a town that supports restaurants

Cochon is very popular among the NYC types. Everyone I know from NY that comes down, that is the one place they mention. It gets national pub, celebrities eat there, etc.

They even just did a Cochon popup in NYC recently.

I could see it happening.

It's called the new Cochon happy meal.

It was inspired by a F&DB's order at Peche and will now be standard at all Link restaurants.

The Peche thread was immediately what I thought about.

Of course, it seems I ordered all the wrong things at JS, so maybe the happy meal isn't limited to Link.

I don't think I caught your review.

I'm going to give them another try in the next week or two. I think it's a decent place, but not a destination place.

I didn't bring too much attention to it because I had a really poor experience, and I knew the lovers of it would crucify me.
