What protein do you use, if not shrimp? Do you actually scoop out and stuff the mirliton “shell” or, like I do, think that’s insane and just make it as a dressing? I’ll hang up and listen...

We are doing it casserole/dressing style with shrimp. I love that stuff.

Casserole style. Used shrimp and crab meat.

I only ever make it as a dressing and I use shrimp, but the first time I ever had some, it was a combination of shrimp and ground meat. Sounds weird, but it was really good.

Having said that, I'm not making it for Thanksgiving.

I make it like a casserole with shrimp. Actually think I used Besh’s recipe both times I’ve made it.

I leave it to other family members now. It’s a bitch to make and I’m one of those who gets an allergic reaction from the skin, which burns for 2 days.

Not sure, but it better be there when I show up... My favorite holiday side dish.

Shrimp and claw crabmeat for the win.

I've done them stuffed and casserole style. Depends on my mood and whether I want to go through the slightly extra hassle of stuffing.

I think I typically use a John Folse recipe.

The shrimp and ground meat is actually not a bad combo though.
