. I believe a store should track customer purchases electronically and give high volume customers the first crack at hard to get items such as Pappy, BTAC, GITM. This is 2016. It shouldn't be that hard to do.

its a local grocery store, not the IRS

The raffles are not about the ghost, or the pappy or any of the raffle prizes. They are simply marketing ploys to have vast increase in customers at once, who will sit and stare at various liquors and then purchase them when they do not win the magical raffle. It's all about getting bodies in the door to sell everything else.

What are you arguing? Your first post was to applaud retailers for selling ghost by the case because it's a quick way to maximize profit. Now you are saying that you don't like raffles because the retailers are trying to draw in customers to sell the rest of their wares? You make no sense.

So give it so the same customers year after year. Good plan to alienate everyone else.

No. Limit one bottle of whiskey or 4 pack per customer. Keep going down the list until you run out. Either way someone is getting alienated and left out. Might as well keep your best customers happy not just the ones that show up for special releases.

I didn't say I didn't like raffles? Both are great business. Sell a whole case to one person, you give more shelf space to other products. Raffles get more people in to buy the other random shite. Not once did I say I was against raffles.... But if it came across as that I apologize.

Bar code on the wrist and 5 credits per year, that'll fix it.

You are right. I forgot. They still use those crank style cash registers at those local grocery stores. Maybe even a cash box where they start the cashier off with $50 in change to get her started daily. Come on dude a simple swipe of a card can tell these guys everything they need to know about each customers profile.

How does the retailer know you are a repeat customer? And does this go just for liquor, or the grocery store as a whole? I'd argue that regular grocery shoppers spend more at the store than liquor only purchasers. Is this preferred method limited only to the alchohol purchasers?

I get what you are saying, i just disagree with it. That's coming from someone who shops at Calandro's for most of his groceries and alcohol and would likely be on your list.

You can still pay in cash. Just swipe your card or enter your phone number like at Walgreens so your purchases can be tracked.

Monday evening:

6 pack of Dales and a bottle of vodka
Here is my preferred customer card and $30

Thursday:

"Hi did you get some ghost?"
"Yes it came in today. Do you have your preferred customer card on you?"
"Yes here it is"
"Oh im sorry looks like youre number #24 on the list to buy premium products and its only available to the top 20"
"Huh?"
"Check back next week. If 4 people ahead of you dont buy the beer, you can come back and get the 4 pack"
"Ah ok. One last question before I leave. What aisle is the KY on?"

For real? I may have to stop by the whole foods on the way home and see if I can score some of this magical Louisiana elixir.

Let's call it, "the Final Solution to the Ghost Question".

It will come into play on the day that Grace and Grit can hold Ghost in the Machines jock strap. Or the day Commotion can hold Envie's jock strap.
